Overview
The Investor Accounting department is responsible for the accounting, reporting, reconciling and remitting for investors of the company. This includes all Investor Portfolios, including private and government agencies, (e.g., Ginnie Mae, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac). This position requires accountability, flexibility, organization, prioritizing, accuracy, strategic/critical thinking and is responsible for performing time-sensitive duties.
Job Description

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a controlled environment and delivering superior investor ratings on a monthly basis and high audit scores on reviews performed by government agencies and internal/external auditors
  • Participate in strategic initiatives to support growth of the servicing portfolio and maximize the customer experience
  • Special projects that contribute to the organization's objectives
  • Leading initiatives that improve performance of process, people and systems.
  • Perform analysis of system cutoff activity and compare to the corresponding remittance methodology (Scheduled/Scheduled, Scheduled/Actual and Actual/Actual)
  • Perform pool to security reconciliations and test of cash analysis
  • Quantify over/shortage positions and take appropriate steps to clear variances
  • Prepare reports and remit funds associated with payoffs, short sales and other events to Investor
  • Monitor Cash Control reports and ensure advances are made in a timely and accurate manner
  • Establish and maintain Investor information in the servicing system
  • Support management in the identification of reporting trends and analyze key deficiencies
  • Research, resolve and document all variances in the Investor Reporting application, servicing system, efanniemae.com, efreddiemac.com and Midanet
  • Assist bank reconciliation staff with balancing of custodial accounts
  • Monitor P&I custodial accounts to ensure that no overdrafts occur
  • Manage relationships with GSE representatives as it relates to servicing and investor reporting
  • Be aware of new publications issued by AllRegs and update investor accounting policies and procedures to comply with the new requirements
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Must have strong leadership/management skills
  • Hands-on experience with most major areas of residential mortgage servicing, including bank reconciliations and loan research
  • Must have strong analytical skills as well as excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities/projects effectively while working in a dynamic environment
  • Must work very independently and be able to make tough decisions within the general framework of corporate, regulatory and investor policies
  • Must be highly proficient in Excel and Word
  • Must be a team player with strong attention to detail and able to work independently
  • Proven track record at delivering timely and accurate information in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical skills and sound judgment
