The transition to electric vehicles will transform how our customers operate their fleets. Driven by economics, policy and/or legislation, more than 30% of fleets will be electric across the different vehicle classes during the next decade. This translates to 3M vehicles by 2025 and 11M vehicles by 2030 in our North American, European, and Asian markets.

Prologis has a unique opportunity to leverage its real estate, development platform, renewable energy expertise, and customer base to build a market leading turn-key electric vehicle charging business. Medium and heavy-duty electric fleet vehicles of the future will largely be charging at warehouses and mobility hubs. This, together with the expanding market penetration of e-commerce and the resulting growth in warehousing space, puts Prologis in a unique position to provide vehicle charging solutions at scale.

As one of the first hires in a growing team within Prologis that is dedicated to this opportunity, the VP of Finance and Structuring will play an instrumental role developing customer value propositions and deal structures for EV and energy transactions. The incumbent will leverage the position that Prologis has in the logistics value chain as real estate owner and operator to develop transformative Charging as a Service offerings.

What’s needed to do that:

  • Structure and implement a finance function that can support the mobility group in the achievement of its strategic objectives.
  • Develop scalable deal structures, leveraging Prologis position as logistics real estate owner and operator, to build a significant distributed mobility and energy infrastructure footprint at Prologis facilities and beyond.
  • Work with your Commercial colleagues to develop project opportunities including project economic models, deal terms and investment proposals. Utilize learning on these specific deals to develop and improve standard deal structures. 
  • Ensure that Prologis is up to speed with vehicle and infrastructure incentives and tax mechanisms across our operating markets and leverage these incentives to optimize project and deal value to customers and Prologis.
  • Build on your deep subject matter expertise to support deal negotiations and drive deals to close.
  • Work with internal and external council to develop contract terms, templates, and risk mitigation strategies for standardized deal structures.
  • Lead financial operations function by setting the vision and strategy for the function and working with other finance functions in the business to drive execution.
  • Develop standard deal underwriting practices and support the development of a standardized and scalable investment process.
  • Building on your deal structuring and financial expertise, contribute to the strategic planning for the EV business and act as the focal point for business planning and budgeting.
  • Assess risks across the business and develop risk management strategies.

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in project development and/or finance, preferably in the distributed energy, renewable energy, and/or EV charging industry.
  • Ability to understand, calculate, and present complex financial analysis to customers, experience with customer facing deal negotiations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with various clean energy incentives and tax mechanisms, such as the CARB LCFS credit mechanism, RECs, solar and storage ITC, etc.
  • Customer centric and innovative mindset focused on solving customer pain points by providing products and solutions that meet the customer’s need.
  • Self-motivated with ability to multi-task, prioritize and resolve complex issues with minimal direction.
  • Leadership ability in a high-performance culture with the ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively.
  • Interest in innovation, passion to drive change, serve others and make a difference.
