Overview
Oversees property valuation and appraisal quality control and monitoring functions in support of Credit Risk Management (CRM) initiatives. Responsible for mitigating real estate valuation exposure to the organization through completion of periodic risk assessments and on-going monitoring routines. Provides guidance and support of property valuation QC and compliance testing for validation against company policy, investor and agency guidelines, and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices.
Job Description

  • Work closely with the FVP, Credit Risk Management to guide appraisal valuation activities in accordance with the Credit Risk directives and initiatives
  • Lead the performance and maintenance of collateral valuation risk assessments in order to:
    • Identify risks and calculate exposure to the organization
    • Evaluate infrastructure of controls
    • Develop and monitor risk metrics and thresholds
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to provide ongoing recommendations to business leaders for continuous improvement to policy and procedures in support of both Mortgage Fulfillment and Servicing valuation activities
  • Evaluate and monitor vendor performance through collaboration with Mortgage Fulfillment and Servicing partners to ensure that valuation products and services continuously meet company requirements and quality expectations
  • Manage Property Valuation team senior associates to ensure production and quality standards are consistently met
  • Through the course of managing QC testing, monitor activities and report concerns regarding any part of the property valuation process where deficiencies have been identified and/or increased risk to the organization exists
  • Monitor and validate QC findings using various valuation products, MLS, Fannie Mae Collateral Underwriter and other public record resources as needed to support value and property characteristic conclusions
  • Continuously analyze real estate/valuation trends to ensure appropriate identification of key metrics and controls
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Comprehensive understanding of Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices, Appraisal Standards Board Guidance, GSE and HUD appraisal related guidelines requirements
  • Prior field experience performing residential property appraisals a plus
  • Functional knowledge of Appraisal Independence Requirements
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in utilizing the most up to date on-line resources to perform property valuations
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and multi task to deliver timely and accurate information in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools
  • Must be a team player with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical skills and sound judgmen
