The Opportunity

Delaware North Global Headquarters is hiring a Technical Accountant to join our Global Business Services finance team in Buffalo, New York. As a Technical Accountant, you will assist with ongoing compliance with the new lease accounting standard, recommend and mitigates company risks by implementing appropriate controls and processes to successfully perform accounting procedures including managing the annual external audit process.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with financial reporting, unit, and subsidiary management in the preparation and review of monthly financial results and annual financial statements.
  • Execute strategies and standards related to accounting policy, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, budgeting, and financial systems and controls.
  • Support the management of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
  • Support company subsidiaries with ongoing compliance related to the new lease accounting standard.
  • Provide coaching and/or mentoring to Global Business Services personnel.
  • Translate strategy into operational goals and objectives.
  • Support annual plan and projection process for business, provide insightful review of year-over-year changes and recommends areas of focus to improve operating margins.
  • Research accounting literature to determine the appropriate accounting treatment for transactions as they arise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant or intent to obtain CPA a plus.
  • Understanding of Finance and Accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Expertise in driving continuous improvement and business process management.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office and PeopleSoft Financials or similar accounting software.
  • Facilitation, detailed collaboration, and effective communication.
