Tax Sr. Associate, Tax Controversy
THE ROLE
The Peloton Tax Team is looking for a talented tax professional to join our in-house tax team to provide support on all tax audits, tax authority inquiries, and examinations. As a member of the Peloton Tax Team you will help mitigate tax risks and maximize tax opportunities by leveraging your experience and through collaboration with business stakeholders.
We are looking for individuals with a track record of success in dispute management and issue resolution as well as the ability to assist with post-exam improvements. This role will be expected to help oversee, track, and timely respond to domestic and foreign tax audits, inquiries, and examinations. This role will also help coordinate with external providers and subject matter experts that may be engaged from time to time.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, a creative problem solver, attentive to detail, and highly organized. The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced environment and is someone who consistently exceeds expectations. Moreover, candidates should have held positions with tax consulting firms and/or law firms serving Fortune 500 clients, or a similar position at a publicly traded company with at least 4 years of comparable experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interacting with tax authorities for efficient dispute management and issue resolution
- Preparing and coordinating timely responses to tax information document requests from authorities
- Help ensure that proper review and sign-off procedure is followed for all submissions and communications with any tax authority
- Diligently track all tax audits and inquiries to ensure information request deadlines are met, help ensure that controls are maintained, and manage examinations for timely resolutions
- Adding value through reduction of audit risk and through closure of audits
- Provide subject matter expertise to business stakeholders on tax audit issues and assist with implementation of any required post-exam improvements
- Research complex tax issues and assist with application of the tax rules/regulations to specific transactions and fact patterns
- Documentation of audit results and technical tax positions through internal memorandums
- Coordinate with external advisors and counsel that may support on selected tax audits
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
- Minimum 4 years working in a comparable role at a publicly traded company, tax consulting firm, or law firm
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Juris Doctorate (with concentration in taxation) or Masters in Taxation and/or CPA
