Founded in 2017, Corvus is a U.S.-based insurtech which is comprised of a team of veteran entrepreneurs from the insurance and technology industry.  Corvus uses novel data and AI to predict and prevent commercial insurance claims, producing a differentiated experience for policyholders, brokers, underwriters and risk capital partners.  Over the last four (4) years, Corvus has experienced tremendous growth by growing Gross Written Premium (GWP) to over USD $100M and has doubled the portfolio each year since inception.  The company is well-positioned to continue its hyper-growth trajectory at scale, with plans to double its headcount in 2022.  

As part of its continued expansion, Corvus seeks a SVP, Risk Capital Partners to join our growing Risk & Insurance team.  This individual must possess the leadership skills, professional track record of success, relevant experience, intellectual ability and interpersonal characteristics to position Corvus for further growth of risk capital.  The SVP, Risk Capital Partners will work in conjunction with the Chief Insurance Officer (CIO) to develop and implement a strategy for growth of risk capital to position Corvus for future growth.

Responsibilities

The SVP, Risk Capital Partners role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategy for risk capital procurement, including development of coverage models to ensure adequate risk capital across all Corvus products;

  • Serve as lead contact point for existing risk capital partners, including coordination of various functions (underwriting, claims, and finance) and aspects of current Program Administrator Agreements;

  • Prospect and secure new risk capital partner relationships for new and expanded products, with core focus on Standalone Cyber and Tech E&O products;

  • Collaborate with President and CIO in seeking alternative sources of capital to support Corvus growth strategy; 

  • Liaise with reinsurance broker partners to develop and support new and existing reinsurance placements;

  • Build a Risk Capital team to include Risk Capital Partner Specialists and relevant support functions;

  • Work with Sales, Underwriting and Marketing teams to develop and refine a target list of risk capital prospects and prioritize risk capital opportunities through our various distribution channels;

  • Lead Risk Capital Partner Advisory Council to be held on a quarterly basis to seek feedback from existing risk capital partners as well as share information on Corvus insurance and technology developments;

  • Day-to-day management and expansion of the Risk Capital instance of Corvus’ CRM system (Hubspot);

Qualifications 

  • 10-15 years of proven experience in Reinsurance, Reinsurance Brokerage, Sales Operations, Revenue Operations or relevant Sales Managerial positions.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven professional who leverages strong relationships to manage multiple stakeholders (e.g. Sales, Underwriting, Product Marketing) in driving results;

  • Experience with cyber liability insurance preferred, but not required;

  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills;

  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively to drive results;

  • Self-motivated, creative, and possessing strong time-management skills;

  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and negotiate with others and create acceptance for proposals;

  • Exceptional verbal and visual communication skills with an ability to execute on a vision;
