About the role
This is an exciting new role and opportunity to be a key member of the Accounting team supporting a dynamic and high-growth organization in the software industry. The Staff Accountant will play a supporting role in ensuring the day to day accounting operations run smoothly, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and efficiency, allowing the company to meet our internal and external reporting and analysis needs and filing timelines while also maintaining compliance with US GAAP.
Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant will contribute to continuous improvement in the Accounts Payable and reporting processes while collaborating with stakeholders both across the organization, as well as external to the organization to meet desired goals and outcomes. The successful candidate will be comfortable challenging the status quo, driving meaningful change, managing through uncertainty, supporting a high-growth fast-paced organization and willing to roll up their sleeves at any point in time.
Responsibilities
- Seek appropriate approvals for all received vendor bills.
- Ensure approved vendor bills are paid in a timely manner, by the due date.
- Maintain list of vendor banking detail for weekly payment batches.
- Support maintenance of accounts payable records in Netsuite and Excel.
- Prepare year-end 1099s for US contractors.
- Process expense reimbursements via expensify following company expense policy.
- Respond to all vendor and employee inquiries regarding vendor bills and employee expenses.
- Assist with monthly close of Accounts Payable, Prepaid Expenses, Fixed Assets, and Bank Reconciliations.
- Assist with related special projects as required, including gathering and providing support during the annual year-end audit.
- Assist team with processing of semi-monthly payroll.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and have an understanding of internal controls under SOX 404, looking for ways to improve upon the current control environment.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in related Accounts Payable and/or Accounting role
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or other related discipline
- Must have excellent attention to detail and accuracy in entering financial data
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and autonomous remote work environment
- Deadline-driven with excellent time management and prioritization ability
- Proficiency with MS Office
- Experience with Netsuite and Expensify is a plus
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams
- Proven ability to thrive in a global fast-paced, multi-functional team environment while having a proactive mindset
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated, willing to “Roll-up your sleeves” to drive and deliver results and improve processes
