This position is responsible for

The Staff Accountant will apply US GAAP principles of accounting to maintain financial data related to Fixed Assets, Prepayments and Deposits, the general ledger, and general accounting. As the payroll back-up, s/he will process the bi-weekly payroll and record the related journal entries if the Payroll Manager is unavailable. S/he may be involved with posting standard recurring entries, ad hoc entries as needed, and preparing monthly account reconciliations. S/he will also perform analysis for management and provide deliverables to third parties, such as external auditors during the annual audit.

Your day will be very busy... you will:

  • Completes all US fixed assets functions, including adding, retiring, and transferring assets in the fixed assets subledger, completing a monthly fixed assets rollforward, recording internal labor that is capitalized, and performing fixed assets impairment testing.



  • Coordinates with Mexico Accounting to record fixed assets that originated in Mexico to be capitalized in the US.



  • Collaborates cross-functionally with Research & Development (R&D), Engineering, Information Technology (IT) and other departments in recording projects in Construction in Progress (CIP) and determining when these assets should be placed in service.



  • Assists the Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager in reviewing Purchase Requisitions related to purchases of fixed assets and prepaids.



  • Performs monthly close duties including posting standard and ad hoc journal entries related to assigned areas of responsibility, such as Fixed Assets, Prepayments, Deposits, Medical Insurance, and other Accruals.



  • Prepares accurate general ledger account reconciliations, including fixed assets subledger to general ledger reconciliations, and ensures that open items are resolved in a timely manner.



  • Processes the bi-weekly payroll and records the related journal entries if the Payroll Manager is unavailable.



  • Ensures that internal controls related to Fixed Assets are strictly enforced.



  • Prints Accounts Payable (AP) checks weekly and deposits miscellaneous cash receipts as needed.



  • Assists with the annual external audit by preparing audit support as requested.



  • Completes special projects, ad-hoc reporting, cross training as needed, including M&A integration and identifies, ranks and drives process improvements.



  • Maintains related files and records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.



  • Takes accountability to demonstrate the organization's Cultural Beliefs and achieving desired results. Performance is aligned with the Culture of Accountability.



What your background will be:

  • Effective oral and written communication in English is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related discipline is required.
  • 1+ years Accounting or related experience is required.
  • 6+ months of payroll processing is required.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills are required.
  • Strong computerized accounting skills and advanced spreadsheet skills; proficiency in the use of Oracle, or similar ERP system is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of UltiPro (UKG) or a similar payroll system is strongly preferred.
