The role
SoFi Securities is seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on Staff Accountant who is excited to learn and grow as a member of our team in New York or Salt Lake City. This is a fabulous opportunity for a CPA or degreed accountant who is looking for a team-oriented environment where you feel you are making a difference and seek to develop your accounting and operational skills within our organization.
This role will report to the SoFi Securities Director of Accounting/FinOp and will be vitally important in supporting accounting and regulatory process improvement.

What you’ll do:
- Actively participate in the monthly and year-end close processes.
- Prepare journal entries in NetSuite accounting system.
- Prepare Broker Dealer’s weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory
- reports including 15c3-3, 15c3-1, SSOI, SIS, and OBS.
- Analyze accounts, journal entries, subsidiary ledgers, and other accounting
- documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform analytical review of the Balance Sheet and Income Statement.
- Work closely with Bank Operations, Accounts Payable, and Treasury departments
- to ensure that transactions are recorded properly under U.S. GAAP.
- Perform tests of internal controls and enhance controls as needed.
- Develop and apply an intermediate knowledge of accounting theories.
- Enhance and document accounting and regulatory processes, narratives, and
- policies.
- Update financial statement reports and create general ledger accounts in
- NetSuite accounting system.
- Coordinate with compliance, payroll, AP, and controller’s group to ensure
- expenses and accruals are accurate.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations.
- Perform ad-hoc reports and analyses upon request.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of reports for investors, management, and
- external auditors.
- Assist in developing and preparing analytical and statistical reports to support
- management decision making.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 1-3 years of progressively responsible
- experience
- CPA strongly preferred
- Broker Dealer experience a big plus
- Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- and accounting procedures
- Proactive and self-driven with the ability to think creatively within a flexible
- environment
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced culture
- Strong organizational, analytical, mathematical, and project management skills
- A forward-thinking and hands-on approach
- Ability to work through a year-end annual audit- Audit experience is a plus
- A desire to learn, develop new skills, and generate ideas
- Computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment to achieve
- deadlines
- Detailed oriented with excellent ability to analyze data and circumstances and provide high-quality work
- Strong written and oral communication skills
