We are seeking a Sr. Technical Accounting Analyst to join our Packaging Segment accounting team at our Downtown Corporate Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

**Hybrid - in office/home, work schedule OR Open to remote outside of the Atlanta, GA area**

This role will drive value for Georgia-Pacific LLC by providing month end close support to the Packaging Segment. The successful candidate must be self-directed, able to manage multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines. This position will allow the accountant to gain knowledge and experience for advancement to positions of greater responsibility and technical ability throughout the company.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Provide guidance for month-end closing activities in a timely and accurate manner, including but not limited to journal entries, accruals and business reports as well as ensure compliance with company policies and meet closing deadlines
  • Lease accounting reconciliation in accordance with AS842 standard.
  • Preparation and review of multiple tax schedule for domestic and international entities. Book monthly journal entries.
  • Maintain and run monthly allocation process for multiple entities.
  • Prepare governmental reports and surveys for the paper and pulp industry, validate data to ensure accuracy, and file them in accordance with governmental requirements.
  • Become the subject matter expert for Goodwill for the packaging segment.
  • Review large volume of data and find discrepancies using multiple systems, follow up until resolution is in place
  • Provide ad hoc information support and analysis to other departments (Operating Management, Tax, Audit, Corporate, etc.)
  • Review monthly/quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations prepared by the offshore accounting team, investigate differences, and determine resolution to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Create value through process improvement and standardization
  • Work with external auditors and support the annual audit process



The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or a related Business field
  • Experience in public accounting, technical accounting, audit OR financial reporting related role(s)
  • Experience providing ad hoc analysis and reporting from a large volume of data, that originated from different systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite or Office 365; that includes Excel (spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data manipulation/analysis and formula creation)



What Will Put You Ahead

  • Accounting or Analysis experience in the manufacturing sector
  • Three or more years working in the General Ledger, Intercompany Transactions, Accruals, Account Reconciliations, Variance Analysis and supporting Month-End close
  • Experience collaborating with and providing support to an offsite/offshore vendor
  • Infor or other ERP experience
  • Blackline experience
