Description

We are seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to join our team in Houston, TX. The role has several diverse responsibilities, but all are structured to give experience and training vital for career advancement. By successfully meeting these challenging duties, the Sr. Financial Analyst will provide value to the business. The Financial Analyst is expected to seek out opportunities to create value by streamlining processes, leveraging technology and resources to increase quality of financial transactions, non-financial data and reporting.

This position will require that you live within commuting distance of the Houston, TX Georgia-Pacific office.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Drive innovation - Support the finance team by automating processes and tasks, while leveraging different technology
  • Collaborate with business leaders and other internal customers as needed
  • Provide a good understanding and connection to financial processes
  • Identify performance improvement areas and define metrics to measure progress
  • Partner with business leaders to understand value drivers and how best to benchmark
  • Planning and forecasting including monthly financial commentary
  • Assist business partners with data insights, discrepancies, and questions
  • Create and modify global and regional financial reports as needed
  • Cost accounting and adjusting journal entries



The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • At least five years of experience in an Accounting or Analysis role
  • Strong understanding or experience with GAAP and overall accounting functions (GL, AR, AP, Inventory, etc.)
  • Aptitude and desire for learning new systems and improving processes through automation
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel - spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data manipulation/analysis and formula creation etc., and Access-query)
  • Experience working with data analytics and/or visual data tools (e.g., Excel Power Query, PowerBI or similar)
  • Ability to learn specific advanced topics as necessary
  • Clear, concise communication skills
  • High energy levels to encourage and motivate team members in value creation
  • Excellent analytical skills, data management and reporting capability
  • Consistent, sustainable work and learning ethic
  • Desire to advance one's career through knowledge and goals



What Will Put You Ahead

  • Accounting Coursework that includes Intermediate Accounting and Cost Accounting
  • Previous system implementation or system upgrade experience
  • Proficiency with business insights and data visualization tools
  • Previous experience with accounting in a construction related business
  • Ability to partner with business leaders to provide insights that lead to superior value
