Overview
The purpose of the PennyMac Loan Servicing Finance group is to proactively uncover, measure and report on cost saving opportunities to increase the profitability of the Servicing operations by tracking the key drivers of those costs and holding leadership accountable for the controllable aspects of profitability. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Model Development, Data Analytics, Data Management, Process Improvement, Operational Capacity and Forecasting, Annual Budgeting, Portfolio Forecasting, and other key corporate initiatives.
In this role, the Sr Analyst will develop models that measure and predict the operational activities of the Servicing division utilizing a data centric and technology driven approach. They will also aid the division by leveraging those operational activities to develop complex and highly detailed analytical tools and models for forecasting purposes in order to provide timely and accurate forecasts and reporting that will impact business profitability. The Senior Analyst is expected to work well in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
Job Description

  • Evaluate, recommend and implement strategies for developing and utilizing data and metrics to predict, improve and measure the Servicing operation, leveraging data and BI tools/practices to build automated models and dynamic forecasts
  • Own and manage the core Forecasting and Analytics models
  • Produce monthly forecasts of key drivers and metrics within the mortgage servicing division to drive down costs
  • Provide dedicated analytical & reporting support for operations leaders, focusing on initiatives that will enable improvements in planning, efficiency, controls, and the client experience
  • Develop operational capacity and forecast modeling for portfolio, delinquency, activity drivers, staffing, etc.
  • Drive the annual budgeting process by interacting with and collecting inputs and assumptions from Senior Management
  • Oversee and manage data - responsible for the storage and transformation of enterprise information, providing tactical and strategic insight that will assist leaders' decision-making relative to operational and regulatory risks that impact business outcomes
  • Assist with the Data Governance framework, providing direction to identify, design, implement, and support data improvement initiatives and solutions
  • Establish processes to continuously monitor data quality, ensuring processes are in place to proactively detect, correct, and prevent invalid data values
  • Ensure management and delivery of key corporate initiatives and financial impacting processes
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Advanced data modeling skills using spreadsheets and other business intelligence tools
  • Strong understanding of the key financial and business drivers within mortgage banking (and ideally mortgage servicing)
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple initiatives in a dynamic environment
  • Proven ability and experience to query / analyze large data sets and assess outcomes
  • Self-directed and skilled at operating autonomously to achieve results in a fast-paced business environment
  • Strong leadership, verbal, and written communications skills
  • Must be highly proficient in Excel, Word and PPT
  • Must be a team player with strong attention to detail and able to work independently
  • Proven track record at delivering timely and accurate information in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical skills and sound judgment
  • Financial Services and, if possible, mortgage industry experience preferred
