The Sr. Director of FP&A is an experienced and seasoned leader who will act as the strategic advisor and partner to the VP of Finance, CFO and executive team. The Sr. Director of FP&A plays a key role in moving the company strategy forward - helping to build a world-class organization that delivers thoughtful and insightful financial planning, reporting, and analysis. They work closely with the VP of Finance in providing leadership for GumGum’s budget and financial planning, management reporting and analysis, and help drive the implementation and improvement of financial systems, tools, and processes.
The Sr. Director of FP&A brings new ideas and a unique point of view, and collaborates with a diverse team of individuals. Note: GumGum currently operates in a ‘work from home’ virtual environment with sporadic opportunities for in-person business and morale events (health guidelines permitting). There will not be any requirement to go into the office on a daily basis moving forward. GumGum is only open to hiring remote candidates who are residents in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and MN.
Responsibilities
- Global Financial Partnership & Business Decision Support
- Act as a strategic business partner to the VP of Finance, business operators, and executive team
- Establish and maintain strong, cross-functional business relationships with leaders and individuals across the company and clearly understand key processes and business goals through effective and collaborative teamwork
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead and manage the 5-year long-range plan and operating budget(s) and related processes to ensure collaboration across the globe
- Drive company-wide financial initiatives and make recommendations to optimize operating performance
- Establish and maintain reporting of key business metrics, identify opportunities and highlight risks, and influence the attainment of targeted metrics through cross-functional teaming and collaboration with business leaders and team members.
- In collaboration with Accounting team, work on preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow, and consolidated statements, and supporting schedules; comparing actual results to budget projections; developing summaries and interpretations
- Lead Financial Systems Automation
- Lead the on-going Workday Adaptive build-out and scale the architecture to support newly acquired companies
- Lead the Roll-Out of Adaptive to BU Leaders to supply them with access to their respective budgets, P&L and expense reporting, variance analysis, etc.
- Leverage Workday Adaptive Planning to build-out monthly close variance packages, the Board book, and other investor reporting packages
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business preferred
- 8+ years' experience in relevant field (budgeting & financial analysis)
- Experience in hyper-growth investment banking, SaaS, Media or AdTech environments
- Hands-on experience and working knowledge across multiple finance disciplines
- Experience with learning the fundamentals of the business across products, operations, financials, etc.
- Expert in short and long term budgeting and forecasting and profitability analysis
- Advanced financial modeling skills
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems and tools
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
- Advanced Excel and/or GSuite experience
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with a variety of functions across the organization
- Effective consulting skills; able to influence at all levels of the organization
- Ability to link best in class FP&A solutions to commercial outcomes
- Change Management and communication expert
- Significant experience resolving complex problems
- Interest and acumen in understanding business concepts and models
