Job Description:
Description: The Senior Decision Support & Financial Operations Analyst is responsible for supporting and ensuring the integrity of the costing and decision support tool, maintaining and reconciling daily data loads and processes, completing pro formas and operational analysis, assisting the network, Hospital and Acclaim Physician Group, with reports needed to make day to day decisions, strategic initiatives and long range planning, and maintaining a high level of customer service for all end users. The Senior Decision Support Analyst functions at a more complex level while also supporting the Director with scheduled and non-routine reporting functions for hospital system and provider lines of business.
Typical Duties:
- Collects, interprets, and analyzes clinical and financial data to support organizational decision making, clinical and financial initiatives and strategic planning activities.
- Maintains DSS report infrastructure, monitoring data quality, developing new reports, assisting with dashboard planning and design, and understanding all data sources.
- Validates and manipulates source system information so that extracted information is meaningful in StrataJazz.
- Coordinates testing of new dashboards, scorecards and other reporting platforms as well as changes to existing reports and models to ensure integrity and quality of data.
- Develops and maintains annual budgeting volumes for the physician group: Forecasts volumes based on historical data, develop reports for physician group variances and real time data tracking. Develops reporting to link compensation plan, productivity and volumes.
- Coordinates with hospital system to accumulate standard benchmarking data on key healthcare metrics.
- Develops, implement and present ad hoc reports to relevant parties as requested.
- Updates and maintains cost accounting software and allocation templates. Ensures cost data integrity, including scheduled uploads, downloads, and reconciliations. Leads the annual cost standard review process and works with departmental managers and other operational leaders to develop and maintain accurate cost per unit values for each patient chargeable product.
- Reviews new and existing departments' codes and accounts to determine and validate allocations of expense. Analyzes actual compared to standard costs for ongoing expenses, and identify opportunities and risks.
- Maintains Service Line logic and reporting. Collaborates with service line teams on deeper drilldowns and analytics by analyzing the service line at all levels including DRG/diagnoses/procedures. Ensures data interfaces and data loads run successfully and are validated for monthly and daily reporting.
- Builds, maintains and analyzes executed and proposed contracts collaborating with Managed Care department. Performs analysis and provides key metrics and scenarios for negotiations with 3rd party payers. Consultative role for revenue cycle and managed care contracts.
- Supports Reimbursement and Patient Financial Services departments with recurring analyses and reports to substantiate net revenue.
- Compiles and reports revenue cycle data and uploads such as KPIs, Denials, Cost to Collect, Cash Collections, external reporting, etc.
- Performs in a consultative manner to provide financial analysis on formulary additions proposed by the Pharmaceutical and Therapy committee.
- Prepares and delivers decision support reports to both internal and external customers.
- Acts in consulting manner for operational and clinical leadership to create and complete pro formas for initiatives and analysis of departmental or service line issues.
Qualifications:
- Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- 5 plus years of work experience performing a broad range of planning and analysis activities related to financial reports, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from an accredited college or university.
- Prior Strata Decision Support experience is strongly preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
