This position will work closely with our Accounting Team to prepare financial statements, reports and analysis, develop business segment analytics, perform a variety of general ledger functions, develop and analyze budget information and assist with audits and documentation/testing of internal controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete monthly close processing on Epicor accounting system and prepare financial reports and analysis for various M Financial subsidiary companies
  • Participate in the assessment, development and reporting of business segment analytics with regular responsibility for several subsidiaries
  • Perform monthly revenue reporting responsibilities related to various subsidiary companies; prepare journal entries, reconciliations, financial reports and related analysis
  • Serve as a Cash Management Team member involved in performing and recording daily banking activity for various M Financial entities, including maintenance of short-term cash projections
  • Reconcile monthly statements for bank accounts
  • Assist with fixed asset administration, including tracking additions and disposals within BNA fixed asset system and reconciling asset listing to the general ledger
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly expense reports and provide budget leaders with information to analyze department expenses and project costs
  • Review invoices and check requests to ensure accurate general ledger account coding; review employee expense reports for appropriate account coding and compliance with travel and expense policies; approve weekly expense payments and serve as check signer
  • Prepare supporting schedules and work effectively with external auditors during interim and year-end financial statement audits; work with Internal Audit Team and other Accounting Team members to document and test internal control procedures
  • Assist with preparation of annual budgets; work with department managers to develop detailed expense budgets and forecasts, analyze and monitor expense variances, and prepare reports for senior management and the Board
  • Perform analysis related to leases and assist with items such as annual insurance renewals and unclaimed property analysis
  • Work with other Accounting Team members to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, and assist with implementation of these improvements
  • Perform various financial analyses, develop ad hoc reports and communicate information effectively
  • Provide outstanding service through timely and effective follow-ups and communications with internal and external customers
  • Serve as project manager and project team member on various Accounting Team projects
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or business with emphasis in accounting strongly preferred
  • 4+ years' experience with accounting experience with demonstrated ability to progressively assume increased responsibility
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of technical accounting standards and concepts on to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize and communicate status of multiple projects; excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to follow through on projects to completion
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work with changing requirements and priorities
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, self-motivated, and responsible
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Accounting Team members, other M Financial staff, Member Firms and external parties

JOB CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Hybrid work environment in Portland, OR offering a blend of virtual/work from home and onsite days designed to support flexibility
  • Normal office environment/desk assignment
  • Extensive use of PC's, computer terminal, display, keyboard, and mouse
  • Extensive hands-on work with documents, spreadsheets, and other written documents
  • Potential for light travel, less than 10%

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Portland, OR Base Salary Range: $68,300 - $97,650

Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience, knowledge, and skills.

You will also be eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.
