Job Description:
The Global Banking Architecture and Strategy team has an opportunity for an ambitious individual. The Solution Architect will support Global Transaction Services with a focus on the corporate payments and treasury management solutions.
The Solution Architect will design and drive comprehensive solutions which meet business requirements in support of a given portfolio. The role requires a strong technical and architectural background with an in-depth knowledge of corporate payments and treasury management. This person will also be accountable for solution designs, evaluation, and selection (buy vs. build decisions), and domain strategy.
Responsibilities

  • Design and drive comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements in support of a the Global Payments, Commercial Card, and Receivables domains
  • Provide architectural support to key initiatives through ideation, design, scope, test, etc.
  • Define technology roadmap and long term strategy by building a collaborative partnership between the Architecture, Operations, Product Management, and Development Teams
  • Influence peers, managers, and build consensus while dealing with ambiguity
  • Help define and maintain design specifications and standards as well as coach others in adopting them
  • Ensure alignment of initiatives against documented strategy; Drive technology strategy across multiple teams ensuring simplification and consolidation where possible
  • Produce conceptual and logical architectures to meet strategic business, financial, and technology objectives through documentation of strategy, systems, architectures, process flows and value-chains
  • Represent the GBAMT Architecture & Strategy team across regional and global technology, operations. and business partners
  • Support the creation and maintenance of technology blueprints and roadmaps showing the evolution of systems from current to target state which meet strategic business, financial and technology objectives
  • Participate in architecture consulting and advisory engagements to assist business partners meet their objectives
  • Support vendor selection activities including recommendations of when to make the appropriate build vs. buy decisions
  • Manage tradeoffs between speed to market, quality, and financial impact


Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • 10+ years in information technology with 4+ years of financial services experience preferably in Global Transaction Services and/or Commercial Payments Processing
  • Skilled in software / systems architecture
  • Strong proactive leadership skills
  • Excellent written (technical) and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of management
  • Ability to work with various groups (business, technology, compliance, legal)
  • Ability to stimulate and participate in creative thinking for out-of-the-box solutions
  • Work effectively in a matrix organization with teams of architects, developers and business partners with minimal supervision
  • Interpreting business needs and applying innovative technology solutions
  • Governance and oversight processes for managing alignment of change to strategic goals
  • B.S. or M.S. in computer science or equivalent engineering/technology degree
  • Certification or extensive experience in industry best practices in architectural methodologies and standards (e.g. TOGAF, CMM, Zachman, etc.)


General Description
Responsible for defining an architectural vision and solution architecture which aligns with the enterprise architecture strategy, technology and platform choices. Describes the solution intent and the associated operating environment, determines the primary systems/subsystems and their interfaces, defining non-functional requirements and architectural runway to support new epics/features. Ensures the solution is fit for purpose and use by working with stakeholders, vendors/service providers, and evaluating the impact of strategic design decisions. Works across business and technology to create the solution intent and architectural vision and evolves it to an emerging backlog. Consults the business to clearly understand the business problems and technology to understand the technology challenges of the solution and finds creative solutions through practical experiments and POCs. Leads rapid shaping of a high level architecture with details filled in with emerging business requirements; ensures architecture is flexible and modular and designed to adapt easily. Utilizes the defined best practices, templates and documentation to create architectural designs; suggests improvements to best practices and templates through practical knowledge. Works with Product Manager/Owner to plan and prioritize technology focused backlog items for the architecture runway to enable business epics/features. Clarifies the architecture for the development teams to support implementation, and provides solution options to resolve any architectural impediments. Performs design and code reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements for a solution are sufficiently met (e.g. security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability). Educates team members on the technology practices, standardization strategies and best practices to create innovative solutions. Individual contributor.

Pay and benefits information
New York City pay range:
$83,800 - $157,400 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.
Discretionary incentive eligible
This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
