Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads a team of Analysts focused on providing financial insights, identifying opportunities, and understanding key business performance drivers.
  • Responsible for establishing strategic priorities and workflow of team and maintaining focus on Operational KPI’s.
    • May include leading the coordination of financial services, store consultation, goal setting, reporting, and business process improvement recommendations.
    • May include leading work that focuses on store level opportunities such as new store support, competitive opening / cannibalization support and/or under-performing store/metro engagements.
    • May include leading work that focuses on programmatic/operational opportunities such as downstream impact of business process changes, sales opportunities, shrink drivers or labor productivity impacts.
    • May include leading work that focuses on regional opportunities such as in-depth category analysis, controllable expense challenges and/or benchmarking performance.
  • Partners with global teams that are developing and rolling out global initiatives (includes Global Merch, Retail Operations, Learning and Development, Change Enablement, DATA, Workforce Planning and In-Stock teams).
    • May include partnering with global teams which impact Team and Program process/results including Enterprise Analytics, GMIA, Culinary, Non-Perishable, and Perishable teams.
    • May include partnering with global teams which impact Store/Metro/Regional performance including WFMOA Ops, Marketing, and Indirect Procurement/AP.
    • May act as Single Threaded Leader or working group Sponsor
    • May include deliverable development and rollout plans including identification of gaps in operational understanding and proactive development of training content and delivery.
  • Cultivates and maintains a high level of curiosity about our business and partners with business leaders to better understand primary drivers of financial performance and influence outcomes.
    • Serves as a Mentor across the entire Performance Management team
  • Generates high quality, error-free deliverables appropriate for executive presentations.
  • Creatively adapts to unexpected obstacles and reallocates self and team’s time, priorities, and resources accordingly.
  • Other adhoc duties as required

PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Displays a mastery of industry-standard business drivers including Sales, Gross Margin, Labor and Operational Expenses. 
  • Excellent ability to monitor, examine and review financial statements, reports and accounts.
  • Excellent knowledge or action plan to become an advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite, Tableau, FPM, Everclear and other WFM reporting tools.
  • Confident navigating, manipulating, and analyzing large data sets. Uses experience, innovation, and judgment to make decisions that may be based on partial information.  Able to identify new and improved methods of performing data manipulation and analysis.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the WFM product mix and retail operations

  • Recognizes change management as a core component of process development, addressing challenges ahead of deployment.

  • Demonstrates strategic understanding of business objectives, competitive strengths and opportunities of WFM and supported stores.
  • Leverages knowledge of customer, market and industry trends and emerging challenges to make business improvement recommendations.
  • Demonstrates exceptional knowledge of the WFM product mix, supply base and retail operations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS degree and 6-8 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2-4 years’ leadership experience.
