The Red Hat Tax team is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager, Indirect Tax and be the primary point of contact for all queries and responsibilities for North American indirect tax. You will work cross-functionally with Accounting, Order Management, Finance, Treasury, and Sales, among other teams. To succeed in this role, you should be experienced with a full understanding of indirect tax and able to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways.
What you will do

• Assist with special projects of diverse scope and provide advanced indirect tax support and guidance to other Red Hat departments
• Perform technical research and participate in strategic tax planning initiatives with indirect tax implications
• Oversee indirect tax compliance holding accountability for reviewing and filing of tax returns and completion of payments in accordance with statutory deadlines
• Manage indirect tax audits ensuring timely and complete responses to notices and queries from tax authorities
• Proactively manage Red Hat's taxability decisions to ensure accurate tax is reflected on invoices and coordinate tax dispute issue resolution with appropriate Red Hat teams
• Ensure proper accounting and tax account reconciliations, with an emphasis on calculating and accounting for uncertain tax positions related to indirect tax
• Extract reports from Oracle and subsystems and perform comprehensive data analyses and resolve notable data issues
• Ensure compliance with business and process controls and coordinate providing information required for testing

What you will bring

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Proficient in Oracle or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
• Certified Public Accountant is a plus
• Proficient in OneSource Indirect or Vertex is a plus
