Senior Manager of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting - Location Flexible
Role Description
As the Senior Manager of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting you will manage the financial reporting and technical accounting team at Dropbox, be responsible for the integrity and accuracy of Dropbox's quarterly SEC Form 10-Q and annual SEC Form 10-K filings, recording of stock based compensation, Statement of Cash Flows, and other technical areas including M&A.
This is a hands-on role where you'll set direction and strategy with the team, provide finance and accounting insights to management, and partner with internal groups to prepare all public filings for review and submission as well as other activities that facilitate the efficient completion of those filings.
Responsibilities
- Lead quarterly and annual external financial reporting including SEC, FASB, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act financial reporting requirements and direct the preparation of SEC Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K
- Ensure all key technical accounting and disclosure related matters are identified, benchmarked, and appropriately documented
- Develop relationships and work closely with external auditors, business leaders and senior management to ensure communication of critical issues in a timely manner
- Provide technical accounting support on new and complex transactions and work cross-functionally to advise on accounting implications to drive business decisions
- Act as a key contributor in the external Earnings Release process (in collaboration with Investor Relations)
- Oversee technical research of significant areas of accounting judgement and policy; review memos and financial statement disclosures of such items
- Review monthly and quarterly share based compensation journal entries as well as Statement of Cash flows
- Review XBRL of external financial filings
Requirements
- CPA with 12+ years experience combining Big 4 public accounting firm and external reporting (SEC) experience; prior experience leading teams is a must
- Experience with high-growth companies, ideally with prior experience in SaaS
- Prior experience developing and owning SEC reporting processes and timelines
- Ability to clearly communicates issues including preparing comprehensive written reports, and pursue effective and timely resolution to issues
- Experience closely partnering with cross functional teams in addition to the broader accounting organization
- Strong analytical skills and ability to demonstrate how transactions impact the financial statements including forward-looking identification of potential issues and disclosure impacts when working with stakeholders
