Senior Manager of Financial Reporting

The Role (West Los Angeles; Remote initially/Hybrid in the future)

We are looking for a world-class Senior Manager of Financial Reporting – a newly created role. This role leads our financial reporting function that is vital to our ability to raise capital to fuel our growth. This is a unique opportunity for someone to build out our reporting capabilities and work cross-functionally across all departments of the company. It will also offer a unique experience in a high growth FinTech start-up.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statements, cash flows, and changes in stockholders’ equity) in accordance with GAAP

  • Prepare and review monthly internal reporting package sections with supplemental analysis to support review of financial results with senior leadership

  • Prepare annual financial statements and footnotes in accordance with US GAAP

  • Coordinate annual audits (financial and SOC 2) and provide related support to independent accounting firm(s)

  • Lead technical accounting research and evaluation of new and existing accounting standards to

    ensure appropriate accounting treatment and prepare memos and analysis supporting

    conclusions

  • Own the accounting and reporting of stock-based compensation expense and equity

    transactions and the accuracy of the capitalization table

  • Manage tax compliance and support with an outside tax firm

  • Assist in selection of an ERP system

  • Develop and initiate process improvements to scale and optimize the financial reporting

    process; collaborate with the data team to enhance our data infrastructure and data delivery

    mechanisms and integrations

  • In cooperation with the FP&A department assist with the completion of the annual budget and

    regular rolling forecast updates

  • Assist in the development of financial controls, policies and procedures

  • Take on additional projects and duties as needed

Experience / Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • Minimum of 5 to 6 years professional experience in the accounting or auditing field

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with the preparation, review and analysis of financial statements and notes in accordance with US GAAP

  • Extensive understanding of US GAAP, including interpretation and application of accounting standards

  • Proficiency with MS-Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, and IF statements), MS- Word, MS-PowerPoint

  • Experience with ERP financial systems

  • Excellent work ethic, attention to detail, and drive to contribute broadly to achieve team and

    company objectives

  • Ability and willingness to be hands-on and dive into details

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Experience / Skills Preferred:

  • SEC reporting experience (10-Qs and 10-Ks)

  • CPA certification

  • Master’s degree in accounting or business administration

  • Public accounting experience

  • Experience working for a growth stage startup

  • Consumer finance/lending industry experience
