Lyft is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Manager, Cost Accounting to join our team. The ideal candidate must have a talent for fostering teams and building a world class accounting organization that supports rapid growth. It’s an excellent opportunity to take charge of a critical accounting area as part of the Finance team. You will play a crucial role as you will be responsible for developing/implementing policies for tracking and costing a large and growing pool of company assets, as well as leading your team through an ERP implementation. Reporting to the Controller, you will partner closely with Supply Chain, Operational Markets, IT and FP&A and will provide critical support in ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SOX.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a timely and accurate monthly financial close in accordance with US GAAP and Company policies
  • Own cost accounting end-to-end processes, including all inventory and COR month end close responsibilities, which include managing the inventory subledger, ensuring intercompany transactions balance, reviewing and approving journal entries, account reconciliations and fluctuation analyses
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing process and system improvements with the goal of decreasing days to close, while also improving team efficiency, accuracy and scalability
  • Lead and proactively participate in the ongoing implementation of inventory systems (Oracle Fusion) and related integration, including timely resolution of issues pre and post system implementation
  • Effectively partner with Supply Chain and Operations leadership teams to implement scalable accounting processes related to inventory/asset management and provide critical support ensuring compliance with US GAAP 
  • Ensure asset costing policies are clearly defined and consistently implemented
  • Analyze aging reports and review turnover of inventory/in-process materials for possible impairment and calculate any necessary reserves 
  • Help with planning and execution of physical inventory counts, including reconciliation to inventory subledger and reviewing/posting any necessary adjustments
  • Responsible for ensuring SOX compliance in areas of responsibility
  • Support internal and external auditors in the periodic review of the Company’s financial records
  • Ensure accounting team is properly resourced to accomplish objectives
  • Responsible for leading, mentoring and developing direct reports
  • Manage projects and provide ad-hoc information requests, as needed, including leading inventory subledger to GL clean up project and actively participating in legal entity simplification project

Experience:

  • BS, Accounting and CPA required 
  • 10+ years of experience in Accounting, including public accounting and industry experience; with a minimum of 5 years of inventory and cost accounting experience in a SOX compliant environment
  • 4+ years of direct supervisory experience
  • Solid understanding of accounting within an ERP system (Oracle Fusion and Netsuite preferred), including the maintenance of subledgers and intercompany transactions; ERP implementation experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including solid understanding of intercompany transactions and required eliminations
  • Self-starter, excellent problem solver, flexible, resourceful, process driven with a high degree of integrity and ethics
  • Extensive experience reengineering, documenting and rolling out processes in a changing business environment
  • Willingness to rollup sleeves and get into the detail as needed, with a drive to follow up and follow through  
  • Ability to lead a team in a dynamic environment, managing multiple and changing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines 
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Must be a hands-on leader, have a strong work ethic, excel in a fast-paced environment, be detail oriented and be adaptable to changing responsibilities and priorities
  • An eagerness to learn and take on challenges in a rapidly-growing and dynamic environment
