Argo’s Internal Audit Group is on a transformative journey to be recognized as a leading audit and advisory function, efficiently delivering high quality assurance to our stakeholders, and dedicated to developing talent and leaders in our organization.  Our journey has already delivered positive change in every aspect of how we operate, including new or strengthened policies and procedures, tools and templates, and increasing our overall value proposition.  But we’re not done yet and we’re looking for a strong, energized professional to join us on this exciting path as a Senior Internal Auditor.  This person will report to a member of our Internal Audit Leadership Team and will play an integral part in helping to develop and lead many of our transformational initiatives. 


The Senior Internal Auditor will play a significant role in driving change and bringing the audit strategy to life by planning, executing, and reporting on audits with complex and technical processes using advanced audit analytics and agile audit methodologies.  The successful candidate brings innovative thinking and a collaborative spirit to an already engaged team of audit professionals.  Argo’s Internal Audit Group is ‘right-sized’ for the professional auditor seeking a team that’s small enough to stand out among your peers, but large enough to help ensure a balanced workload and engagement through interesting work.  Argo’s hybrid work environment and collaboration technology provides our team with the flexibility and accessibility needed to stay engaged, empowered, and equipped to accomplish our goals. This role can by hybrid but aligned to the New York City, NY office. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the Audit Team’s success by assisting in the execution of the Group Audit strategy, delivering on pieces of that strategy, influencing the audit risk assessment and audit plan development, and helping to drive our function forward.
  • Partner with team members of all levels to deliver positive changes to the department through process re-design and knowledge sharing.
  • Build strong relationships and credibility as a trusted advisor to contacts within the US and Group business to help understand the needs of the business, new and emerging risks, and continuing opportunities to deliver value.
  • Work through ambiguity to develop and implement changes and solutions that have a strategic impact for the business, as well as within Internal Audit.
  • Develop and execute audit programs and test plans that focus on the most important and relevant business risks.
  • Analyze workpapers, risks, and controls to provide assurance and advice to the business regarding corporate policies and procedures, technical inquiries, audit planning, and the internal control environment.
  • Continually apply critical thinking to ongoing tasks, procedures, policies, and findings to help ensure outcomes align to the bigger picture and organizational objectives.  This includes monitoring emerging issues and trends, giving thought to potential business impacts, and mitigating actions.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continual learning by monitoring and understanding industry rules and regulations, current events, and emerging trends; applying your knowledge and understanding to daily work assignments and sharing among the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; concentration in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • Relevant professional certification(s) preferred, but not required (e.g., CPA, CIA, CMA, CFA, CISA, CFE).
  • 3+ years of work experience, preferably internal or external audit within financial / insurance services industry with strong SEC and PCAOB experience and knowledge
  • Proficient in applying internal auditing standards, procedures and techniques, risk management practices, procedures, protocols, and industry best practices.
  • NAIC and Agile experience strongly preferred
  • Big 4 accounting and SOX Compliance experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial / insurance services operations and regulatory requirements
  • Strong communication (oral and written), presentation, and project management skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience forming and maintaining strong relationships with business contacts and company leadership, resolving differences, and influencing positive change
  • Experience developing audit analytics, dashboards, and continuous monitoring programs using data analysis software (e.g., PowerBI, IDEA, Tableau, ACL)
  • Some travel may be required. Currently, little to no travel. In the future, this may change.
