Be a key contributor in the development of an OptumHealth analytics capability focused on understanding the drivers of operating earnings and business performance. Perform broad financial and operational analytics to evaluate financial health and performance while supporting the implementation of controls within the business. Engage directly with businesses to produce detailed recommendations supported by in-depth analytics and data. Present actionable insights to leadership which are used to drive business decision making and measurable improvements. Collaborate closely with local and National partners to consolidate mass amounts of data so it can be used to generate analytics, visualizations, and advanced forecasting insights. This role will be pivotal in developing executable data analytics and supporting the broader OptumHealth analytics program.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engage with leadership to identify areas where analytics can drive business value, frame business problems into analytic questions, and influence strategic decision making by presenting sophisticated data analytics in a simple, clear, and meaningful way
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams across OptumCare National and local clinics as well as other OptumHealth businesses to stay informed on key initiatives, elicit business domain expertise, learn the drivers of each business area, gather and consolidate data, and align on the analytics approach and insights
  • Leverage varied analytical techniques using many data sources to personally develop analytics models, advanced forecasting models, financial and operational analyses, and other ad-hoc analyses
  • Create visualizations using multiple data sources which convey complex insights in a way that's easily interpreted and consumed by leadership
  • Be a continuous learner, actively exploring and implementing new and advanced analytic and statistical diagnostics techniques

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in analytics, finance, networks, or operations
  • Demonstrated experience integrating and mining large data sets to generate insights and inform business decisions
  • Experience building detailed financial models to analyze business performance
  • Experience identifying key performance indicators and building reporting to monitor short and long-term performance
  • Proven ability to work independently toward team and business objectives


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • M&A experience
  • Experience with programming/database software such as SQL, R, Python, PowerQuery, etc.
  • Experience building intelligence reporting/dashboards with tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or other business intelligence software
  • Experience with structuring data for effective utilization including sourcing, cleaning, managing, manipulating, and optimizing output

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
