Varsity Tutors is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team! The Senior Financial Analyst provides decision support, forecasting, analytics and reporting to senior management for all functions within the business. The role also supports special projects such as automation initiatives, the implementation of new systems and processes and the financial due diligence and integration of business acquisitions or expansion opportunities. The role participates heavily in financial planning and related reporting for the company; weekly and monthly business reviews and operating plan development.

Qualifications

  • BA in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5 years of finance and/or accounting experience
  • Technical and financial knowledge, including understanding of internal control requirements and accounting principles
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, financial planning (modeling) tools and ERP systems
  • Ability to thrive and effectively operate in a fast-paced, hands-on, collaborative environment
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making, leadership, oral and written communication skills
  • SQL experience a plus
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, often cross functionally
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and a work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong problem solving skills, the ability to deal with ambiguity, and work successfully and effectively on cross-functional team
  • Self starter with strong analytical skills, decision making capabilities, and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Budget and forecast development
  • Perform cost and variance analysis
  • Provide strategic business decision support
  • Drive cost reduction / optimization opportunities / initiatives
  • Support M&A activity, including all aspects of due diligence and deal execution
  • Implement and improve business processes
  • Provide financial planning for operating expenses, capital spend, headcount and new business lines / acquisitions
  • Provide key business and financial guidance to the organization (budgeting, forecasting, operating plan development)
  • Preparation of monthly sales incentive plan calculations
  • Analyze and interpret financial results to budget / forecast
  • Drive annual budgeting process and development of operating plan updates on a periodic basis
  • Support month end close process (reporting, variance analysis)
  • Process development and improvement for business expansion, new initiatives and systems, acquisitions
