Role Summary
The Project Controller is responsible to support the program managers and engineering teams by continually monitoring, analyzing and reporting project status and variances. They are actively involved with the program managers to establish local and global project schedules, budgets and forecast for capital, personnel and non-personnel costs (ie: tooling, testing, materials). They ensure customer recoveries are recorded correctly and timely. They identify potential areas of concern, develop and recommend solutions, implement changes and create reports as needed. They are the liaison between engineering, supporting functions, management and the group office.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, Monitor & Analyze Engineering Project(s)/Site(s)
- Ensure all hours are posted timely and accurately
- Review engineering purchase requests, against original budget, ensure it is in current forecast, review supporting vendor quotes for cost, timing and terms and conditions
- Track Engineering Change Notices
- Track customer purchase orders for engineering and Prototype services
- Ensure invoices to internal and external Engineering customers are issued through Accounting
- Review and approve Intercompany invoices
- Review open PO report: coordinate receipt of services, close completed POs, adjust forecast timing
- Assist engineering team to prepare and submit capital requests
- Attend project meetings with engineering teams to review schedules, personnel, capital, project scope changes, hours posting, customer POs, open purchase orders and expected deliveries
- Create and maintain reports as needed
- Compare actual engineering & capital spend to forecast and budget and provide explanation of variances
- Manage submission of annual budget and quarterly forecasts
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
- 3+ years of professional project controlling / Finance experience preferably within the automotive industry
- Aptitude to quickly learn other software and applications
- Able to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Able to work with a diverse group of people (engineers, accounting, management, customers, vendors, purchasing, sales, cost estimating)
- Able to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to present solutions and implement change
