Responsible for developing, interpreting and implementing financial concepts for financial planning, analysis and control. Performs technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, investment activity, customer deals, trended future requirements and operating forecasts. Develops, implements and monitors financial performance metrics, existing and new store performance and profit and sales drivers. Ensures development and distribution of reports / recommendations relating to financial and performance planning, investment options and related decision tools.

GENERAL SUMMARY 

 

Whole Foods Market (“WFM”) is hiring an experienced Finance professional to support global operational teams within the Operational Finance (“Ops Finance”) function. Ops Finance Senior Financial Analysts are finance partners to Global and Retail Operations, Global Workforce Planning and Supply Chain teams The priority of the Ops Finance team is to drive business results by identifying areas of opportunity through regular business reviews and guidance updates, providing investment support analysis and consultation, and facilitating the long-range, annual, and quarterly guidance update processes. Senior Financial Analysts develop financial analysis that contributes to the success and profitability of WFM and build thoughtful processes and automation to deliver better efficiencies and quality of results.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with the ability to partner cross-functionally, has strong written/verbal communication skills, drives continuous improvement, enjoys problem-solving, and has a strong finance background. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Serve as analytical partner to Principal Financial Partners in Ops Finance and the broader Global Finance Team 

  • Upholds program goals and mission of the global finance team when interacting with various business partners. May act as lead of working groups and provide guidance, coordination, review and insight. 

  • Recognize cross-functional partnership opportunities and seeks to build global relationships. 

  • Acts independently to leverage cross-functional partnerships to provide actionable financial analysis and consultation to key business initiatives. 

  • Provide financial insights, highlights opportunities, and quantifies benchmarking goals and milestones. 

  • Create executive recaps for business reviews discussing financial performance, challenges and opportunities within Global Operations or with global business partners and leaders, including Global and Retail Operations, Workforce Planning Team, and Supply Chain teams. 

  • Update financial reporting, dashboards and targets based on approved global initiatives and changes in assumptions. 

  • Create financial analysis and financial outlook on Stores with Losses and New Stores performance. 

  • May include a focus on operational opportunities such as category analysis, controllable expense challenges and/or benchmarking performance based on global performance and outlier status. 

  • Engage in data mining and ad hoc business analysis to solve complex problems and benchmark performance and trends.  

  • Develop and maintain financial reporting portfolio for Global and Retail Operations with a focus on streamlining and automating reporting to eliminate manual and redundant efforts. 

  • Anticipate change management constraints and build them into financial reporting design and maintenance considerations.  

 

  • Partner with Corporate Planning and Merch Finance to understand targeting assumptions and forecasting methodology, identify process improvements and propose solutions for change management needs. 

  • Ensure Finance team appropriately updates process and assumption documentation based on agreed upon changes.  

  • Review financial targets for appropriate business partners and identify potential gaps and required updates. 

  • Continually improve Accounting & Financial management processes to most effectively meet the organization’s growth projections.  

  • Develop and recommend improved data collection and analysis methods, including methods to: 

  • Improve automation and standardization,  

  • Rapidly respond to changing business conditions,  

  • Ensure data security, availability and integrity. Generate quality, error-free deliverables appropriate for leadership presentations. 

  • Creatively adapts to unexpected obstacles and reallocates time, priorities, and resources accordingly. 

  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions in both one-on-one situations and group meetings. 

  • Willing to travel up to 10%, domestically, as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

  • BA/BS and/or Masters degree and 4-6 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Education in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or Economics preferred.
