About the Business Finance Team
Business finance is a highly visible team that supports partners across the organization to ensure that sound financial decisions are made in order for Thumbtack to achieve financial performance against company goals.
Together with business analytics, business finance serves as partners for marketing, sales, and product teams across Thumbtack, and uses both quantitative and qualitative analysis to understand business trends, unlock potential revenue levers, and support the corporate FP&A team in monthly revenue forecasting.
About the Role
The Senior Financial Analyst, Product will partner closely with the business. Your business partners will view you as a trusted advisor and value your expertise and help in managing resources to achieve company goals. In this highly visible role, you will support and enable cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams to set company targets, track against those targets, and support company leaders. This role will provide decision support to the business for how product decisions impact the P&L. Reporting to the Director of Business Finance, Product and Engineering this role will be responsible for supporting end-to-end FP&A support for the business and ensuring successful partnership between the business, Corp FP&A, and Analytics.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to provide financial modeling assistance for key business decisions, including prioritizing resources and investments to get the best ROI.
- Provide strong thought partnership, leveraging industry knowledge and business acumen to show a capability of influencing business leadership to drive results.
- Analyze and synthesize financial results and communicate key messages to internal stakeholders
- Develop financial models that guide our strategic decision-making on key P&L drivers
- Help evaluate product features and access financial impact
- Support Product and Engineering budget allocation, attribution, and financial reporting
Must-Have Qualifications

- 5+ years of FP&A experience; with experience as a finance business partner
- Proven ability to collaborate cross functionally
- Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills, using key tools within Excel and G-Suite
- Experience working with product and engineering teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to tell the story beyond the numbers
- Ability to translate financial analysis into clear and insightful recommendations
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience working for a consumer tech company, marketplace
- Experience within a public company environment
Thumbtack is a virtual-first company, meaning you can live and work from any one of our approved locations across the United States, Canada or the Philippines*. When it is safe to gather, we will begin to host in-person events on a regular basis. Remote employees will be expected to travel occasionally for these events to a Thumbtack library or offsite team-building location. In cities with 5+ employees, we are establishing local communities, where employees can gather for local events. Additionally, employees in the San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Toronto and Manila areas will have opt-in access to communal workspace at one of our Thumbtack libraries. We always prioritize the health and safety of our employees. Currently, participation in these events and Thumbtack library use are optional. Both require employees to be fully vaccinated.
