The Finance team supports all areas of the business, from key strategic decisions to day-to-day operations. We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant & Reporting excited to play a major role in the financial evolution of Bestow. You will work closely with the CFO, Controller and Head of Reporting, leading reporting excellence through attention to detail, compliance with requirements, automation and process improvement.


We ideally would like this person located in Austin/Dallas, TX or Des Moines, IA but are open to Remote for the right candidate.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Drive process improvement and efficiency to increase the timeliness, accuracy and relevance of deliverables, that supports the development of our long-term vision and strategy through financial reporting (both internal and external).
  • Support the internal and external audit relationships as well as requests for information and clarification from external partners and stakeholders (i.e. Regulators, Banks, etc).
  • Strive for a high level of documentation over processes, risks, and controls as the Company continues to scale.
  • Maintain company and sector expertise. Support response to market developments that have an impact on Bestow’s reporting requirements.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement approach to processes.
  • Align personal goals with Bestow’s Employee Principles.
  • Support colleagues within the Finance function through conducting research and investigating/explaining variances to plan and prior. 
  • Assist with presentations for investors, corporate communications, and business partners.
  • Assess data and utilize tools/applications to improve the efficiency and operating effectiveness of assignments and deliverables.
  • Strong interest in learning and developing an understanding of U.S. GAAP and NAIC SSAP (STAT) reporting and differences in accounting basis. 

ABOUT YOU

  • 3+ years of professional experience, preferably in public accounting and/or the insurance industry with exposure to the reporting function either through audit or preparation.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, including ability to utilize systems and applications to identify and communicate the drivers of variances to prior and plan. First-principles approach to understanding complex concepts.
  • Strong ability and willingness to present.
  • Strong business writing skills.
  • Collaborative style and viewed as a business partner with internal and external clients/customers.
  • Ability to work as a team player as well as independently.
  • Desire to improve the Financial Accounting and Reporting function; ensure best in class practices are in place.
  • Solicit and accept feedback, criticism, and alternative points of view.
  • Intellectually curious and demonstrated self-starter.
  • Undergraduate degree required.
