The Supply Chain Function is responsible for balancing supply and demand across the organization; ensuring we have the optimized amount of inventory to meet worldwide demand for Medtronic's vast array of businesses and products.

The position reports to the Inventory & SOGL COE/MICD Supply Chain Finance Director and will partner with multiple stakeholders to provide timely analysis, insightful guidance, and financial leadership to the Machined Implantables, Capital & Disposables (MICD) Network Supply Chain. This role requires extensive cross-functional partnership with various supply chain, operating unit, and finance teams to implement best practices, build capabilities and drive improvement cross-functional partnership with various supply chain, operating unit, and finance teams to implement best practices, build capabilities and drive improvement across the supply chain cycle, including volume/ demand planning, inventory, and capital management, inventory excess, and obsolescence reserves, and SOGL and freight expense management.

The position will also provide financial business partnering support for strategic supply chain initiatives and be responsible for developing processes, financial models and frameworks that enable better business decisions impacting supply chain metrics and support continuous improvement.

A Day in the Life

  • Actively engages with business partners to understand financial drivers and achieve key supply chain metrics.
  • Drives and supports strategic supply chain initiatives through financial modeling, ad-hoc analysis, and reporting to influence decision making and drive business results.
  • Performs financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities to support quarterly forecasts and annual planning (AOP) for Inventory, Capital, Amortization, Freight, and SOGL (scrap, obsolescence, physical gains/losses) as well as manage balance sheet inventory reserves.
  • Completes monthly financial reporting of supply chain financial metrics: analyzing results, identifying issues, and providing actionable insights.
  • Oversees and reviews monthly close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations, to ensure integrity of financial results and appropriate management visibility
  • Review excess / obsolete inventory reserve assessments and proactively identifys areas of risks and opportunities.
  • Supports Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and develops financial analysis that provides insight into issues/decisions that impact key supply chain related metrics such as product phase in/phase out, demand/supply planning, excess inventory management, and product lifecycle management.
  • Consultant to various finance team members and a thought partner on complex business issues and analytical opportunities across the MICD Network and Operating Units that enable better decision making (supply chain, controllership functions, manufacturing sites).
  • Brings a mindset of continuous improvement to all aspects of the job, including recurring processes and standard-along projects.
  • Supports the GO&SC Finance team in key projects and processes as needed, such as a financial systems/data mgmt. improvements and automation, inventory revaluation, deferral period analysis, obsolescence process, capex processes and other process improvement efforts
  • Lead talent management and development activities for a team of 3 principal financial analysts

 

MUST HAVE

 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting (Or Advanced Degree with 5+ years) plus 5+ years of leadership experience

NICE TO HAVE

 

 

  • MBA, CMA, or CPA or other financial certifications
  • Exceptional leadership, business partnering and influencing skills
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation
