Be a trusted advisor and partner to key Optum Health business executives, helping them understand the fundamental drivers of performance in their business to optimize overall business performance. Perform broad financial and organizational analytics to evaluate financial health and improve financial controls. Value how changes in key operational driver metrics impact earnings performance, highlight trend changes which require remediation, identify best practices for scalability, and provide recommendations and support the development of improvement plans. Identify and implement predictive analytics to optimize business performance as well as implementing advanced forecasting methodologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engage with executive leadership to identify areas where analytics can drive business value, frame business problems into analytic questions, and influence strategic decision making by presenting sophisticated data analytics in a simple, clear, and meaningful way
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with cross-functional teams across OptumHealth to elicit business domain expertise, learn the key drivers of each business area, and keep key stakeholders aligned with the analytics approach and insights
  • Leverage varied analytical techniques using myriad data sources to personally develop prototype analytics models, advanced forecasting models, financial sensitivity analyses, and other ad-hoc analyses
  • Be a continuous learner, actively exploring and implementing new and advanced predictive analytic and statistical diagnostics techniques
  • Lead and develop a team of talented and diverse strategic and operational analytics professionals, building a culture of high-performance and collaboration and a team people want to be a part of
  • Support the development the strategic roadmap to guide technology and functional partners through the development and implementation of repeatable and automated analytics and reporting

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in finance, mathematics, economics, engineering, or related or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of related experience in analytics, finance, networks, or Business operations
  • Experience in setting team direction and provide managerial and leadership guidance to members of your team
  • Experience building detailed financial models to analyze business performance
  • Demonstrated experience integrating and mining large data sets to generate insights and inform business decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced certification
  • M&A or corporate development experience
  • Programming/database software experience such as SQL, R, Python, PowerQuery, etc.
  • Experience building intelligence reporting/dashboards with tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or other visualization software
  • Experience working with large data sets, advanced statistics, and predictive models
  • Proven ability to work independently with key business executives, including managing conflict, negotiating alignment, and driving issues to resolution

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $134,200 to $257,700. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $134,200 to $257,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
