About This Job

At NielsenIQ, it is important for us to be connected in many ways. As part of the Global Payroll Center of Excellence, the SR Consultant will be part of the team supporting global payroll, tax, compliance and reporting. This incumbent will work cross-functionally with areas of HR, Tax, and Legal to drive compliance with US/Canada/Puerto Rico payroll process, tax remittance, reporting, and filing obligations related to local, state, Provincial and Federal tax laws. You will also support year end activities and will be an essential resource for payroll matters and solutions. 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the organization's compliance with local, state, Provincial and Federal tax withholding, remittance, and reporting. This also includes working closely with appropriate teams to ensure appropriate tax withholding methodologies are applied to employee wages, equity, non-cash compensation, and supplemental compensation.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendor(s) that are responsible for the administration employment tax authorizations, remittances and reporting of payroll tax. Create a set of controls that tracks compliance related to timing and accuracy of all tax remittances and returns.
  • Collaborate with offshore payroll teams for payroll and tax-related issues, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues where considerable judgment is required. 
  • Pro-actively determine the root cause of issues and develop and implement action plans to address issues or findings. Research opportunities to standardize and streamline processes and eliminate manual work.
  • Maintains internal control standards, SOX requirements and audit remediation requirements
  • Stay current on legislative changes that affect North America payroll, tax withholding, remittance, reporting or filing obligations.
  • Effective understanding of payroll and taxation related to global mobility, equity and benefits administration.
  • Assist in the testing of new set up, system enhancements, updates and integrations affecting global payroll. Understanding processes related to mass data changes for employees information and impacts on payroll operations.
  • Experience working on/with a payroll team during mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures and understand the impact on payroll and tax operations.
  • Experience in driving systematic payroll reconciliation using tools and systems and working with Finance teams to ensure payroll is properly and timely recorded at the corporate level.
  • Collaborate and drive solutions for continuous improvement with IT support organizations related to our SAP HCM and Payroll system
  •  Familiarity and ability to run payroll reports utilizing SAP Payroll and or ADP SmartCompliance is highly preferred
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of performance metrics for presentation in executive dashboards
  • Provide excellent customer service to employees and Stakeholders
  • Participate in other payroll related projects as assigned.

Your approach to processes and regulations and how NielsenIQ currently executes will provide the organization opportunities to streamline and improve various activities, ensure the organization is compliant in a rapidly changing environment, and potentially reduce the likelihood of audit issues.

Qualifications

  • Seven years or more of North America payroll operations, compliance and payroll tax knowledge, multi-state and multi-company preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable rules and regulations surrounding payroll and payroll tax as well as payroll systems knowledge
  • Knowledge of SAP ECC or similar ERP's (particularly related to payroll and workforce administration) and ServiceNow 
  • Experience in project management and system implementation related to payroll 
  • Experience with creation of process documentation, workflow and presentations.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills applied in a constantly changing fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with offshore teams and third party vendors preferred.
  • Process improvement or simplification experience
  • Demonstrates initiative, flexibility and follow-through
  • Collaborative team player; ability to work independently in cross-functional teams
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills or related experience. Must have advanced spreadsheet (Excel/Google Sheets) experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, related field or equivalent experience or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
