The Senior Financial Analyst will lead the team's month-end financial close process. The position will be responsible for preparing financial reporting, reconciliations, and providing financial and business analysis support to management and various customers of the Finance department. This position will focus on root cause analysis on problems that have very large data sets that require substantial problem solving and thoughtful execution to successfully navigate. Cultivating a strong knowledge of data schema, data flow, and data relationships will be key in root cause analysis. In addition, this position will provide data configurations, UAT and procedure implementation for new program launches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Management of the accounting and reconciliation of various receivables, liabilities, revenues, and claims related to the billing activity of the company
    • Develop and maintain knowledge of how data elements flow through accounting software and related databases
    • Perform data analysis on large data sets pulled from a variety of systems and tables with a heavy use of SQL and knowledge of how data flow could impact related data sets
    • Perform root-cause analysis on significant revenue-related deviations leveraging knowledge of data flow to find related data discrepancies and direct or perform clean up
    • Compilation and presentation of consistent and accurate financial reporting to management and non-financial audiences
    • Manage data and system configurations; performing user acceptance testing of any changes or additions to ensure the integrity of data flow and relationships that drive transactions.
    • Management of various tools to assist in the monitoring of transactions processed through financial systems used by the department
    • Perform variance analysis (YoY, MoM, etc.) using queried data to identify issues that may impact future revenues
    • Creation and management of critical business reporting tools and turning data into accurate and relevant information with limited direction
    • Enhancement of process efficiency and accuracy through automation
    • Support management and other departments through financial analysis and modeling
    • Own documentation of assigned processes in compliance with various audit requirements and ensure those processes are adhered to
    • Collaborate with peers to manage priorities and coordinate efforts with a focus on providing excellent customer service


PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES:

    • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
    • Extensive knowledge of accounting systems, business analysis, and reporting tools
    • Systems aptitude and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL Server, and financial software
    • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to details, organized, and results oriented
    • Strong interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communications
    • Ability to establish priorities and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision
    • Positive attitude and strong team orientation


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field and three to six years of relevant professional experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    • This position requires the ability to read, write, analyze and interpret complex instructions, correspondence, legal documents, financial reports and/or technical documents. In addition, the ability to respond effectively to clients, employees and management and handle sensitive and/or confidential communications is required.


TECHNICAL SKILLS:

    • This position requires proficiency in a variety of accounting and office applications including but not limited to, the Microsoft Office Suite.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    • This position requires advanced mathematical and statistical skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and interpret complex numbers, financial data and reports. The ability to apply such concepts to create reports and financial records and present them effectively is also required. Must be able to develop complex formulas to perform needed calculations and demonstrate how data was derived.

    • No additional certificates, licenses or registrations are required for this position.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • The physical demands and working conditions of this position are similar to those found in a standard office environment. Employee may spend 4-8 per day sitting and working at a computer. The ability to adjust focus, use hands to grasp, finger, handle, reach or feel and sit for prolonged periods are needed for this position.


TRAVEL:

    • Some travel may be required on an individual project basis. Travel may include overnight stay at the work location.
