We are looking for a visionary and entrepreneurial actuary to drive management strategy for our worker's compensation line of business.  You will be empowered to act autonomously and leverage your expertise to provide impactful analyses to our insurance product, finance, and operations teams.  You will take an active role in the decision making process at Next.  Your role will be critical in ensuring our growing worker's compensation line of business scales while maintaining profitability.


What You’ll Do:

  • Be the #1 subject matter expert at Next relating to the pricing of its worker's compensation products.  
  • Build actuarial pricing methodologies to be used for projecting prospective loss ratios, rating factor relativities, impact analyses, predictive model calibration, rate filing support, and other actuarial analyses.
  • Build actuarial methodologies to measure and manage natural catastrophe accumulation risk
  • Translate results into recommendations and strongly communicate them to senior management
  • Partner with data science and data engineering in order to expand our pricing, business intelligence and reporting capabilities relating to our worker's compensation products
  • Manage and mentor actuarial analysts on projects, enabling their career growth, and serve as a role model for the broader actuarial team as we build scalable solutions that produce high quality results

What We Need: 

  • 8+ years of experience in an actuarial role with a bonus being any experience with worker's compensation
  • Experience managing projects and junior members of teams
  • Expertise with some or all of the following software: Tableau, SQL, Python, MS Office, Google Suite
  • ACAS or FCAS preferred
