We are seeking a high-integrity accounting professional to join our finance team. As our Senior Accountant, you will play an active role in assisting Accounting Manager with many aspects of the accounting function and payroll.The position requires managing accurate and timely closing of the accounting records, including preparing journal entries, account analyses and reconciliations. You will act a key member of the accounting team responsible for all payroll related activities across multiple states

What You'll Do:

  • General Ledger/Month-End Close:
  • Execution of monthly and quarterly close, ensuring accurate results are delivered on time for reporting.

  • Create and enter journal entries and prepare account reconciliations in support of the period-end close process which include prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and expense accruals.
  • Reconcile all bank accounts monthly.
  • Conducts monthly and quarterly account balance reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting
  • Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules - Determine useful life, calculate depreciation.
  • Assist with annual audit and tax activities. Prepare workpapers as assigned.

  • Payroll:

    Ownership of multi-state payrolls for all categories of employees. This includes ensuring timeliness, accuracy, completeness, and proper cut-off for each payroll cycle as well as compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.

  • Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll using Paylocity and prepares manual checks for final payroll checks. Assist in new hire setup, handle tax form processing, benefits deductions setup, terminations, stock option withholdings, garnishments, etc. Collaborate with HR function in employee onboarding and offboarding processes that impact payroll and comp/benefits/tax issues.
  • Ensure all Payroll accounting entries are complete, accurate, and recorded in a timely manner.
  • Audit payroll data for accuracy, including performing reconciliation between the general ledger and bank accounts and investigating any unresolved discrepancies.
  • Prepares monthly reports including but not limited to W-4, direct deposit and benefit deductions, monitor accruals of Vacation and Sick hours, payroll-related journals
  • Ensure proper setup of state payroll registrations on an as needed basis.
  • Maintain compliance with state and local tax jurisdictions- monitoring state, provincial, and local registrations for payroll taxes, local health and state unemployment insurance, workers compensation, etc.
  • Review and process payment of quarterly sales commissions/bonuses and associated accounting requirements (accruals and ASC 340)
  • Instill a customer service approach to payroll through the development of strong operating processes, metrics and guidelines; manage escalated issues and aid employees.
  • Miscellaneous Support Activities:

  • Support the Accounts Payable Accountant by serving as a backup in processing vendor invoices in Tipalti, obtaining necessary approvals and initiating check runs and wire transfers.
  • Assist in the automation of accounting processes and implementation of new tools
  • Ensure compliance with internal control requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Work cross functionally with HR and various business owners and help drive key system initiatives and improvements
  • Ad hoc analyses as assigned

Qualifications and Education:

  • BA/BS Accounting or Finance
  • 5 plus years of experience as an Accountant, Staff Accountant, or similar
  • Prior startup/high-growth company experience, ideally in tech/SaaS
  • Strong GAAP acumen. Experience with recurring revenue models (ASC 606) desirable.
  • Advanced experience using payroll systems such as Paylocity, ADP, Workday, etc. a must
  • Enterprise-level accounting systems, Intacct or similar (e.g., Netsuite, SAP, etc.)
  • Enviable time management skills; you think critically balancing the details while considering the big picture
  • You exhibit integrity and sound judgment always maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Experience managing across functions and businesses to accomplish large scale goals in a fast paced, high-growth setting.
  • Confidence, good judgment, energy, and personality to work in a dynamic environment across all levels of management and across business units and functions.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, time prioritization, and risk assessment.
