JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Accountant will prepare monthly journal entries, completing assigned account reconciliations and researching general ledger account variances in accordance with US GAAP and the closing deadlines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare recurring journal entries, accruals and prepaids (insurance, maintenance, misc, etc.) schedules
  • Maintain fixed assets and associated depreciation schedules in Great Plains; ensure proper recording of purchases and disposals
  • Create and maintain monthly fixed asset rollforward report
  • Maintain investments and associated stock and bond schedules; ensure proper recording realized and unrealized gain/loss
  • Research and correct account discrepancies
  • Reconcile and balance general ledger accounts for accruals, prepaids and fixed assets
  • Ensure all deadlines are met in accordance with closing dates set by management
  • Support accounting team with special projects/ad hoc reports as needed
  • Support and back up the other Staff Accountant during vacations and absences (cash, rent and accruals)
  • Other duties as assigned



POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, Master's Degree a plus
  • 4+years of progressively responsible experience in the accounting field
  • Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains experience is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel (Pivot Tables & V-Lookups)
  • Corporate accounting / general ledger experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work with minimum supervision while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
  • Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within short deadlines
