The Opportunity

As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for financial records and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles accordingly. This role will prepare financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. Assists in analyzing costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligation to predict future revenues and expenses. This role will accurately record and process all invoices for payment, collect all monies due to the company in a timely manner, track other accounting information to ensure accurate financial reporting, and provide expanded financial reporting support. The position interacts with all departments and company management to help provide quality customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
  • Responsible for accurate coding and processing of all invoices and ensuring all requests for payments have been approved by the appropriate authority.
  • Audit on-line or manually generated employee expense reports for accuracy and completeness. Ensure proper management approval, accurate coding and timely processing.
  • Collect and post daily cash receipts and reconcile to bank posting.
  • Maintain and file all system generated audit trail reports. Update and maintain vendor payment files and customer payment records including any related documentation required such as customer and vendor sales tax exemption certificates.
  • Follow up on debits and returned items, warranty parts and credits due company.
  • Generate month-end accounts receivable and payable aging reports and reconcile to the corresponding general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare monthly sales and use tax reports by taxing authority and reconcile amounts payable to general ledger and sales reports.
  • Assist in periodic physical inventory reconciliation through preparation and audit of related support schedules.
  • Assist in year-end account reconciliations and outside year-end audit.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality regarding all aspects of company business within the accounting department.
  • As an integral part of all CQuence business functions, interacts with employees, customers and vendors as part of a team to assist with and facilitate the delivery of quality service and helps to create a work environment conducive to solving problems.
  • Must be willing to provide the following information to hospitals upon request: immunization records, drug screening, background check, and training records.

Knowledge and Talents

  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Highly proficient with accounting software, databases and queries.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bookkeeping knowledge (i.e. debits and credits).
  • A team player, cooperative. Able to interact with personnel at all levels in the company.
  • Dependable with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform daily tasks and responsibilities without close daily supervision.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.
  • Experience: One to two years accounting experience required.
  • Previous auditing experience helpful.
  • CPA license preferred.
