Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting

Neiman Marcus Group is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing team. A candidate with a strong entrepreneurial attitude, attention to detail, and a well-rounded professional background in accounting will make a quick impact in the role. This role is best suited to someone who considers themselves a critical thinker/problem solver.
The Senior Accountant will be primarily responsible for components of the monthly close process and preparation of financial statements. This team has high visibility to leadership frequent cross-functional collaboration with other corporate teams at Neiman Marcus, including finance, legal, operations, people services and other specialized accounting teams. Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for the monthly close process components and preparation of financial statements. Responsibilities under this role include:
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements
- Prepare/assist in creating the Company's internal reporting packages
- Assist in the monthly close process, including recording journal entries, preparing reconciliations, and financial analysis schedules
- Assist in special projects, ad hoc requests and initiatives as required
- Preparation of key financial reports for management
- Ensure all deliverables are completed on a timely basis and reporting deadline met
- Keep management informed of the status of their workload and priorities
- Responsible for various accounting systems and processes, recommending and implementing changes to streamline and improve those systems and processes.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Undergraduate degree required; Accounting or Finance preferred
- 3 or more years of experience in a similar accounting role
- Public accounting or equivalent industry experience is preferable
- Excellent Excel, Word, and Outlook as well oral and written communication skills
- Experience with Oracle and Hyperion Essbase is a plus
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and follow-through capabilities
- Ability to work independently, prioritize deliverables and manage time to meet required deadlines
- Flexibility and adaptability, willingness to collaborate with others and contribute as a member of a team
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with a critical thinking, proactive approach
