The Opportunity

The Senior Accountant position is within the Controller's Group reporting to a Manager on the Mortgage and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Accounting Team. The candidate would be directly responsible for many of the accounting and reporting activities supporting the CRA line of business. This person would work very closely with the CRA line of business, Accounting Policy, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), SEC reporting, and other functional areas within the Controller's and CFO group.

The Work Itself

  • Analyze and evaluate accounting implications of potential new loan and investment deals
  • Operationalize the set up of new deals and build processes to sustain through the lifecycle of each deal
  • Liaise with business line and Accounting Policy to address complex accounting questions
  • Partner with FP&A to develop accurate forecasts for the CRA portfolios
  • Run models to support complex accounting such as fair value measurement and impairment assessment for CRA portfolios
  • Perform certain month-end journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare various quarterly and annual reporting deliverables to support SEC, regulatory, and risk reporting
  • Manage coordination with internal and external auditors
  • Collaborate with business partners to ensure objectives are met and high quality of customer service is maintained
  • Identify and implement process improvement
  • Engage with the accounting policy team, including independent research of new accounting pronouncements, propose on application of relevant findings, and drive implementation of changes



The Skills You Bring

  • BS/BBA degree in Accounting/Finance
  • CPA preferred
  • 3-5 years' experience in accounting or finance related field
  • Should possess general technical accounting skills
  • Prior experience in financial services is a plus
  • Energetic, motivated and takes initiative
  • Ability to organize data, perform independent analysis and provide explanations to management
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to communicate across levels of business (both vertically and horizontally)
  • Flexible and can work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent data management skills
