The Opportunity
As a Securities Trader, you will execute trades on behalf of the MassMutual field representatives, take an active role in the digital trading platform, and trouble shoot operational issues experienced by the MassMutual field. You will perform varied work of substantial variety and complexity requiring problem solving and decision-making skills.
The Team
The MMLIS Trading Team is a team of thirteen traders spanning different levels of experience; while many have specialties, what is particularly impressive is the sharing of skills across the team, helping everyone become more efficient and successful resulting in an excellent level of service to our customers: advisors, clients, and other home office colleagues. The Impact:
As a Securities Trader your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Advises Registered Reps regarding various aspects of the Managed Account and Brokerage Platform.
- Enters orders for equities, bonds, mutual funds, and option trades, requiring knowledge of trading and how markets work. Partners with field and home office client servicing teams to problem solve for unique trading challenges.
- Responsible for the daily operation of the portfolio trading platform including rebalances, cash management and model change trading.
- Collaborates with the Head of Trading and business partners to support the functioning and maintenance of the portfolio trading platform as well as improve efficiency and execution capabilities.
- SME in portfolio trading, brokerage trading and managed account trading and trainer for other team members.
- Other tasks include monitoring, sign off and review of reports related to Brokerage Business to meet regulatory needs, monitoring and handling of workflow cases in timely manner, developing and maintaining policies & procedures and providing ad hoc reporting and analysis.
- Role requires frequent collaboration with other internal operations and investment teams as well as external service providers.
The Minimum Qualifications
- 3-5 years of portfolio trading/administration experience and/or retail trading experience
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Series 7
- Series 24 or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Proficient with OMS system and custodial platforms
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Understanding of trade execution strategies, transaction costs, and products in the marketplace.
- Solid understanding of financial markets, money movement and trading attributes
- Ability to problem solve and determine the most effective method of problem resolutions while complying with corporate and regulatory procedures.
- Strong analytical and decision making skills
- Strong organizations and prioritization skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Teamwork: ability to work across organization in partnership
- Ability to work under pressure
The Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance or related field
- Proficient with Fidelity custodial platform
