Location: This role is remote and open to candidates nationwide in the United States.

Your Mission:

The Revenue Manager is responsible for the Company's revenue recognition functions and create policies and procedures to ensure proper accounting treatment in accordance with ASC 606. The Revenue Manager will work closely with business unit management to ensure the reliability of the Company's revenue accounting in accordance with GAAP. The Manager will also monitor the month-end revenue close, develop and perform procedures to detect revenue recognition misstatements, and interface with external auditors. This position relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and coordinate with personnel in multiple departments to accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This position reports to the Assistant Controller.

Requirements

  • Manage the Company's revenue recognition functions and create policies and procedures to ensure proper accounting treatment in accordance with ASC 606
  • Establish complete understanding of the Order to Cash process and oversee the Order Processing Team to ensure compliance with internal policies, subscription management, and Revenue Recognition guidelines
  • Ensure timely monthly close of all Revenue-related GL accounts
  • Document revenue recognition position in technical white papers
  • Actively participate and own portions of the Company's ASC 606 implementation plan.
  • Perform stand-alone 606 assessments on significant and unique contracts.
  • Establish a partnership with the business units to provide support, guidance, and ensure that proper technical guidance is followed during the contract negotiation process
  • Review contracts, sales orders, and purchase orders to assess proper revenue recognition treatment
  • Perform relative selling price analysis for multiple element arrangements, coordinating with multiple departments in the organization to analyze pricing for product/service offerings
  • Ensure that all revenue recognition processes and procedures are up to date with the latest literature
  • Work with the external auditors to ensure the company is compliant with the latest revenue recognition accounting technical guidance and provide timely responses to any audit requests
  • Assist the business unit in the annual and quarterly forecasting process
  • Provide ongoing training and support to the business units
  • Manage, mentor and train staff, as the department expands, to ensure staff are ready to take on new challenges associated with growth
  • Review and enhance internal controls necessary to ensure that revenue forecasts, deferred revenue balances, and revenue accounting execution are compliant with Company policy and GAAP
  • Stay current on evolving Accounting Standards pronouncements and updates under prevailing regulatory bodies (FASB, SEC), incorporating into current Company policy as necessary


Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA required
  • 3-5+ years of corporate accounting or public accounting experience, preferably with Big Four firm and SEC experience
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition and cost accounting principles and ability to apply
  • Advanced Excel skills necessary. The role is data intensive and qualified candidates must have experience with, and interest in, analyzing and merging large sets of data from multiple systems. V Look-Up, Sum-If, Pivot Table and other advanced Excel knowledge required and used extensively in the role
  • Strong written skills and experience writing technical memos
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as part of a team
  • Analytical experience to provide business explanations for balance flux, trends, etc
  • Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail, problem solving, and follow through
  • Experience with Sarbanes Oxley internal controls a plus
  • Experience in a software and/or subscription business a plus
