As Riegelhaupt doubled his team, he wanted to keep the org flat while improving processes. By creating a new role, product operations leads, the team remains flat — but there’s extra support in streamlining workflows, hitting OKRs and developing the team’s skills. These “mini-chiefs of staff” allow techies to focus on building great products, all while remaining “one layer away from the chief product and tech officer.”
