Financial management is crucial to the performance and success of any company. The roles and responsibilities of the Coursera Finance team include accounting, financial reporting, analysis, planning, budgeting, and compliance. Problem solvers at heart, this team works to fuel Coursera’s growth by developing creative solutions in response to accounting and finance challenges.


As an SEC reporting manager, you will be responsible for the preparation of all required SEC filings including Form 10-Q and 10-K, proxy statement, Section 16 filings, and any other filings as deemed necessary. In addition, the SEC reporting team is responsible for the accounting, reporting, and disclosures related to stock-based compensation. You will partner with key stakeholders such as Finance, Accounting, Tax, SOX, Legal, Investor Relations, and People Operations, and work directly with external auditors and third-party vendors. This position will report directly to the Director of External Reporting.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, in compliance with SEC Regulations and US GAAP
  • Prepare and review supporting documentation and schedules supporting the financial statements and footnotes
  • Monitor new SEC/GAAP guidance, research new accounting pronouncements on SEC and technical accounting issues to determine appropriate accounting treatment and financial disclosures
  • Coordinate closely with external auditors on technical accounting and SEC reporting matters and provide timely support for quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Assist with managing equity compensation records and analysis of stock-based compensation
  • Various special projects such as the implementation of new accounting standards, help drive process improvements to enable speed and accuracy over the quarterly reporting process, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 6+ years of accounting experience 
  • Experience working with Big 4 accounting firm and/or public company experience 
  • Knowledge of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA license
  • Familiarity with SEC filing software (Active Disclosure, Workiva, or similar tool) 
  • Experience with financial/ERP systems (Netsuite), Microsoft Office, Google Workspace
