Manager I, Revenue Recognition
Job Summary:
(currently remote but may require future relocation to Austin, TX, time frame undetermined)
This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate recording of all revenue transactions related to professional services in accordance with US GAAP. This person will have an extensive US GAAP technical revenue accounting background in a multi-element environment and have a proven ability to foster proactive working relationships with cross-functional teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Worldwide revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP
- Oversee Professional Services accounting process and implement policies/procedures to help the business scale
- Ensure revenue accounting policies are documented and applied consistently
- Review stand-alone statement-of-works and document revenue impact to related new sales and coordinate revenue adjustment as necessary
- Review monthly updates surrounding revenue recognition and any related actions
- Work cross-functionally and within the revenue team, creating a positive working environment, and investing in others to help them grow
- Support stand-alone selling price analysis
- Draft financial statement disclosures related to revenue
- Manage SOX compliance for Revenue related items
- Key contact with external auditors to review accounting assessments and to manage quarterly reviews and annual audits
- Participate in special projects as required
Qualifications:
- B.S. or above degree in Accounting, CPA required
- 6-8 years of progressive experience - preferably a mix of Big 4 accounting firm experience (preferably at the Senior Associate or Manager level) and public companies with multiple, complex revenue streams in a software environment
- Extensive knowledge of ASC 606, especially under multiple performance obligations and software revenue recognition
- Ability to conduct technical accounting research and document findings
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills as well as ability to effectively use accounting knowledge to collaborate, guide and interact professionally with a wide range of personnel at various levels within the organization to drive sound business decisions
- Ability to effectively present information with confidence and accuracy to various levels of internal management and external auditors
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adapt to change
- Exceptional organizational skills, project management experience to include management of large-scale/global initiatives
- Ability to train and develop employees
- Strong knowledge of SOX requirements, including the ability to assess, develop and implement internal controls related to revenue and deferred revenue
