The Opportunity

The Manager, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting is a critical and strategic position on the Finance team that will help with the financial reporting, technical accounting and strengthen the internal control structure.  

This position reports directly to the Director of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting and will be responsible for execution of financial reporting and technical accounting activities. The role will be responsible for providing reliable, high quality, and transparent financial reporting. Activities include: 

  • Accurate and timely production of internal and external financial reporting for various constituents; 
  • Improvement and documentation of financial reporting processes and controls; and
  • Assessment and implementation of the accounting process for new, complex transactions, new accounting standards, or changes in existing policies

What you’ll do

  • Lead the design, preparation, and completion of accurate and timely U.S. GAAP financial statements and reports, including audited financial statements
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of the preparation of quarterly financial compliance reporting for external constituents including lenders, investors and regulatory/licensing entities
  • Lead implementation of new accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, and monitor emerging accounting standards 
  • Research, interpret and implement accounting to ensure accurate and relevant disclosures in audited financial statements 
  • Evaluate the effects of new accounting principles on current processes and policies and liaise with stakeholders
  • Provide technical accounting assessment, documentation, and implementation of new, complex transactions, new accounting standards, and/or changes in existing policies
  • Assist in operationalizing new/complex transactions and function as a liaison for Accounting with various groups and Legal Department on new initiatives including considering impacts on operational accounting
  • Collaborate with the Legal Department to review new or changed contracts related to securitizations, loan sales, debt and equity issuance, and new legal entities to identify accounting implications
  • Maintain and establish strong collaborative relationships with Finance, Legal, Treasury & Capital Markets, Technology and Product, Business units, and other stakeholders as well as auditors
  • Manage projects related to finance process improvements and implementations 

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years combined public and corporate accounting experience 
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP applicable to both public and private entities
  • 1 year accounting policy/technical accounting advisory experience
  • Ability to research and analyze relevant facts and formulate technical accounting positions, considering GAAP and regulatory guidance, industry practices, etc
  • Background in financial services, lending, asset-backed securitization, or similar activities
