Who you are
You are an experienced Accounting Manager with 5+ years of experience with your CPA or equivalent. A stellar communicator, you know how to articulate complex financial information into a digestible format for all audiences. You are proficient with SAP, Quickbooks, FreshBooks, or any other accounting system, besides Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. You also have experience laying the groundwork and defining the principles and policies our business will follow. A team player at heart, you have a proven track record of building relationships with business partners across the organization to accomplish critical goals. You are also an expert problem solver, with a demonstrated ability to overcome and work around problems which are inevitable in an ambiguous and rapidly changing business environment. We’d be super impressed if you have experience working within the Real Estate industry and leading a company to an IPO.
What You’ll Do
As the first Manager, Accounting at Stavvy, you’ll report to the Chief Financial Officer and establish the accounting policies and principles to optimally support Stavvy’s financial operations. You’ll be tasked with evaluating and improving the existing infrastructure for booking expenses, recognizing revenues, and reporting financials. As Stavvy is a rapidly growing organization, you will be integral to assisting that growth by not only providing accurate and timely financials but also by ensuring airtight business compliance and reporting.
This is a unique role as the first Manager, Accounting at Stavvy, you’ll be key to helping us build out the foundations of our Finance department.
In this role you will:
- Closely monitor and report on financial outcomes while also crafting actionable plans to improve the position of the business
- Define and implement a monthly and quarterly-end close process
- Be responsible for closing the books and records under US GAAP and preparing financial statements
- Develop a strong relationship with Banks, Investors, and VCs
- Assess internal controls, including but not limited to risk assessments and reviews of risk areas
Our office is also currently located in Newton, MA with an anticipated move date to Boston this coming December. We currently have limited capacity in-office due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are currently accepting candidates who live near or are looking to move within the commutable vicinity of Boston, MA. This job will start remote but be expected to be in office in the future to foster collaboration with team members and fellow Stavviators.
