About You and The Role

The Zipline Finance Team is looking for a Global Payroll Manager to design and implement a centralized payroll function that supports our increasingly global operations across Africa, US, and new geographies. You own the key communications and accuracy of payroll that play an important role in building trust with our employees. Working very closely with the People and Legal teams, you will serve as a key thought leader on both operational payroll and global mobility processes.

What You'll Do  

Within one month, you’ll

  • Analyze existing payroll, benefits, and equity processes and iterate towards an efficient and compliant global payroll system
  • Be the company’s key contact on payroll matters
  • Assess key relationships with US and international payroll systems and external providers
  • Review and approve journal entries to record the payroll activity and approve monthly payroll account accruals and reconciliations
  • Prepare payroll reports for team leads as needed

Within three months, you’ll

  • Define the strategy for scalable payroll function and lead payroll transformation activities to harmonize payroll processes, enhance automation and implement new systems or vendors (as appropriate)
  • Help with new market set up and ensure payroll in compliance with country specific laws and regulations
  • Operate with a continuous improvement mindset to constantly streamline as we grow 
  • Maintain and update documentation of payroll process and procedures; perform audits to ensure data integrity across HRIS, payroll systems, and accounting activities

What You'll Bring 

  • 6+ years of accounting and finance experience.
  • Proactive, attention to detail and solid auditing skills
  • Clear and proactive communication that will provide excellent customer service to our employees and develop strong partnerships with other departments
  • Experience with US federal, state, local, and international tax requirements 
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to learn quickly in an unstructured environment and make an impact
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Experience with a variety of HRIS and Payroll systems, e.g. Namely, BambooHR, Workday
  • Bonus if you have experience with emerging markets and equity
