The Opportunity
- The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the critical connection between Freshwork's payroll, equity, and global mobility teams to ensure compliance with employee tax related matters. Reporting to the Senior Director of Tax, the ideal candidate will be a results-oriented and strategic Employment Tax Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
What you'll Do
- Support Global Mobility, Payroll, Equity, and partner with external advisors on employment tax-related items
- Drive strategic thought leadership for employment tax planning opportunities to minimize risk and exposure
- Partner with cross-functional teams to assess and implement proper reporting requirements for all relevant tax issues related to employee programs
- Advise Global Mobility on tax planning opportunities for complex cross-border relocations (both temporary assignments and permanent relocations)
- Provide support for global payroll tax audits
- Assist with Future of Work planning and provide input on risk mitigation for temporary relocations
- Support business travel tracking implementation and provide ongoing tax support for payroll and equity
- Review and advise on tax and immigration implications and compliance items
- Consult with benefits teams to provide advice on global employee benefit programs, including acting as liaison with external advisors as needed
- Provide advice on tax treatment of executive compensation
- Partner with Global Payroll and Equity to ensure regulatory compliance on equity reporting in multiple countries, including coordinating with outside advisors and implementing internal processes
- Lead and assist with ad-hoc projects
What you need to succeed
- Minimum of 7 years of employment tax experience in Big 4 or tech industry
- Bachelor's degree in tax or related field
- Deep understanding of employment tax rules, including regulatory and compliance matters related to expatriate taxes and payroll/employment taxation
- Demonstrated experience with domestic and international tax compliance and planning
- Intellectually curious with an aptitude for creative problem-solving and analysis
- Must be a dependable teammate, ready to collaborate with multiple cross-functional partners (ie. Finance, Legal, HR, and external vendors)
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, efficiently prioritize tasks, and adhere to critical deadlines
- Affinity for customer service, demonstrating excellent oral and written communication skills
- Confident working with various levels of management and handling highly confidential data
- Advanced Excel user (ie. pivot tables, xlookup, vlookup, macros)
