Overview
Interface directly with executive management team to define overall residential mortgage pricing strategy. The primary responsibilities are to develop pricing strategies, ensure pricing strategies are thoroughly analyzed, and recommend to the executive management team which strategies should be pursued. The group manager operates with a large degree of autonomy and decision-making authority.
Job Description

  • Oversee a team that will develop and test complex pricing strategies as well as perform complex analysis to create solutions for corporate strategic initiatives
  • Work directly with PennyMac's sales teams to determine the impact that pricing strategies may have our customers
  • Oversee the design and development of margin reporting infrastructure and trending reports
  • Oversee the development of related party margin concession algorithms and reporting. Meet regularly with CEO to discuss the performance of these algorithms.
  • Furnish corporate accounting with loan level fulfillment fee concession values (a SOX process)
  • Oversee the development and automation of competitive intelligence reporting
  • Oversee the design and development of demand elasticity analysis and profit and ROE optimization models that can be used to make real-time profit and ROE-maximizing margin decisions
  • Oversee the construction and analysis of mortgage pipeline fall-out curves, and guide the development of pricing strategies to account for differences to due borrower or business partner behaviors
  • Oversee the collaboration with financial planning and analysis to determine and calibrate mortgage servicing rights (MSR) loan-level attribute adjustments and pricing grids. This effort includes government loss modeling, prepayment and delinquency attribution, and understanding the behavior of the qualified residential mortgage (QRM) servicing model.
  • Oversee the analysis of pipeline behavior including extension, roll, relock activity, time to deliver, file delivery to purchase, and other operational cost metrics. Guide the development and design of pricing strategies that distinguish different behaviors.
  • Oversee the analysis of client behaviors that impact operating costs, and lead the development of pricing strategies that account for the impact of different behaviors
  • Oversee the development of the margin management system (MMS), lendingspace loan origination system, and pricing distribution infrastructure including rate sheet distribution and third-party pricing vendors
  • Oversee the opportunity and risk analysis of new product offerings
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned
  • Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization's desired culture and values

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • BS or masters in engineering or computer science, math, physics, statistics, or financial engineering. Masters level, MBA or CFA preferable.
  • 7+ years of experience building financial models and applying advanced statistics techniques to problems in residential mortgage finance
  • Strong quantitative, problem solving, and statistics and financial engineering skills
  • Extensive experience with SQL coding and Excel automation
  • Knowledge of a statistical package like SAS, R, or similar is desirable
  • Strong business acumen and ability to interface effectively with executive management
