Your Impact:
Handshake is hiring an FP&A Manager for R&D reporting to the Director of FP&A, on the Finance and Business Operations team. In this role you will help build out a world class planning function at Handshake. By streamlining the process around managing a significant portion of Handshake’s costs, you will have direct cross-functional impact on how effectively we operate and achieve our northstar goals.
Your Role:
Own R&D Headcount planning, including:
Detailed review for squads and functions, and all related opex
Review of headcount allocations to optimize them against product road map
Managing budget for contractors, being mindful of tradeoffs in personnel costs
Align with business partners on recruiting progress, and impact to R&D roadmap
COGS and Opex
Review of hosting costs / COGS to efficiently scale our platform
Vendor management, particularly hosting costs/COGs, software vendors across Handshake, and any other professional services costs
Forecasting and reporting
Run a monthly review of R&D and IT-related costs with understanding of what is driving variances to budget and forecast
Your Experience:
Ownership mentality with experience ID’ing and solving business problems (not just reporting results) and using analytics to guide decision making.
6+ years of relevant experience in high growth companies with demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of autonomy.
Direct experience supporting R&D or another department directly
Highly analytical and inquisitive with a keen attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Experience with planning and HR software is a plus.
Bonus Areas of Expertise:
Direct experience managing R&D costs across all three financial statements.
Direct experience in planning headcount.
Compensation Range:
- $132,750-$170,000 base
For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
