About Shift

We believe car buying should be fun, fair, and accessible to everyone. We’ve set out to transform an industry, using technology to bring transparency and convenience to the car buying process.

And we aren’t stopping there. We seek to bring that same openness and simplicity to car ownership too, with payments, maintenance, and insurance in one easy app. At Shift, we’re building the tools that empower people to buy, own, and sell the cars that make life go.

Having recently joined the NASDAQ, Shift is entering a period of rapid growth. Our Director of SEC Reporting is looking for an attentive and collaborative Financial Reporting Senior to actively manage Shift's SEC Reporting & U.S. GAAP compliance processes.

What you'll do

    SEC.

  • Stay current on technical accounting matters and assist with research on technical accounting topics, writing accounting position memos and implementing new accounting standards.

  • Lead the implementation of Shift's Sarbanes-Oxley 404 processes, policies and procedures.

  • Assist with cross-functional projects on an ad-hoc basis, including with the Financial Planning and Analysis group’s planning processes.

  • Assist with key accounting processes including stock-based compensation, leases, goodwill, intangibles and joint collaborations.

  • Partner with the Legal and Investor Relations groups and support preparation of financial communications, including earnings releases and the annual report.

  • Critically assess financial reporting information received from other functions and service providers to determine its impact on Shift's reporting.

  • Help coordinate quarterly review processes and audit procedures with external auditors.

  • Interface with the finance leadership team, outside public accountants and attorneys, internal legal, tax and other departments.

  • Critically focus on continuous improvement initiatives that increase the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting deliverables.

What we ask for

  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. GAAP, SOX 404 compliance and SEC reporting regulations.
  • Strong work ethic and sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Workiva, XBRL, and other software a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with all levels and functions in the organization
  • Must be flexible, organized and able to accurately work under time constraints and deadlines.

Who we are

At Shift, we’re all about growth - which means people who are eager to grow, who are ready to roll up their sleeves and learn new things. We were founded by a scrappy group of visionaries who were by no means “car experts” - so we don’t expect you to be one, either! We’ll take the open-minded go-getter over the pure subject matter expert any day. In that spirit, we also care about building a diverse and inclusive workplace and company. To put it simply, cars are meant for everyone, so we believe our company should be, too. We never discriminate against any candidate on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, race, ethnicity, religion, color, national origin, marital status, veteran status or disability status. We welcome and encourage people of all backgrounds and walks of life to apply, even if you’re unsure if you meet all the requirements. (Even if this particular role isn’t the right fit, chances are we will have the right one soon!)

Why Join Now?
